The Nissan Silvia first debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show in September of 1964.
For the design, Nissan consulted the expertise of the German man, Count Albrect Graf Goertz. Goertz was first hired by Studebaker, so hemoved to the United States for that job and then was hired by BMW, so he went back to Germany for that job, he worked on the 507 with that. He then moved to Porsche and worked on the 911. During the 1960s, he was employed by Nissan Motor Co. LTD. to take over the Silvia project.
The Silvia was the first Japanese car to use a full scale clay mock up. Goertz then made a four seater Silvia but never reached production. He then made a design for the 240z but Nissan never used it. --------------------------------------------------- The Silvias body was all hand built with hand beaten panelwork.
