so i have the oportunity to go ka-t in about 2 or 3 weeks but i would be doing it on stock internals. i think the typical sr swap is over rated. i have nothing against the sr, i like them but i want to do somthing diferent than every one else. i would be running 61/2 pounds of boost with good fuel managment and a good tune. i also have a back up motor if somthing goes wrong... however others say not to do it NA even though it only 6 pounds. im hearing different things. i would hate to have the motor blow and then be out 1500$. but i was also thinkin, screw it ill save 500 more $ and do a save and reliable sr swap. im stuck on what to do. what do ya'll suggest??? your opinion is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED....

You're going NA on your KA with 6.5 lbs of boost?

Am I missing something?

my guess is that he doesn't understand that n/a means naturally aspirated aka NO FORCED INDUCTION.

6.5 lbs would be perfectly fine on the stock bottom end. might be worth throwing some aftermarket cams in there for a little better headflow.

why only 6.5 though? a small t25 turbo could easily do 10-12lbs of boost, and i've seen plenty of stock ka-t bottom ends with even more boost than that.

my $.02

That was my guess as well, but instead of ridiculing him, i thought I'd ask first, try and determine what he actually means, so as to better respond and clear up misinformation.

yeah, i about had a brain hemorrhage trying to comprehend that.. could be talking about 6 1/2 psi fuel pressure i dunno.. jk

What you mean is using 'stock internals' or 'stock block/bottom end'. NA stands for 'naturally aspirated' meaning no means of forced induction i.e. turbo, supercharger, twin-scroll hampster wheel setup.

6 1/2 shouldn't be a problem, but if you don't do it right it's still enough for the rods to kick their way out of the motor, or piston rings to go, or the floorpan to fall out of the car like in Fast and the Furious

Not trying to be an ars man. how far is Madison from Mobile? ever go down to Bruno's??

sorry guys. lol i mean running 6.5 pounds on stock internals...as in ..no rebuild on the inside. my motor is very strong, it aint sh*ty. i hear you can push that much boost (a little more) on a STOCK KA.. clear it up a bit???

It really all comes down to quality. A good tune and good parts.. is just good lol

You could push (I'd say) up to 15psi on a stock ka, being well maintained and having high, consistent compression readings all across. It's just that above 7psi or so you'd have to upgrade injectors (if haven't already done so) and have all the bugs worked out for it to last.

7psi is as much as one would want to push using stock injectors. A lot of experienced guys here wouldn't do that though. It's been strongly recommended that even on low boost setups you should upgrade to at least sr 370cc injectors along with the fuel pump.

The guys on here know what they're talking about, just hit up the search button up there and look around at what others have done and what works
