I was thinking about extrude honing my exhaust manifold, bit it looks like it will cost hundreds. So my second choice would be just to use a die grinder to smooth things out. Anybody done this and have recommendations?

There is no way to get a die grider in the runners of the exhaust manifold. Especially around the turns. You could only really smooth out the entry and exit but nothing in between. And smoothing out the runners with a die grider wont yield the same results as extruding.

In my opinion extrude honing the exhaust manifold is not worth the money. Especially on a small street setup. Sure if you have the money to spend, then go ahead. I just cant justify spending a couple hundred dollars on it. It all comes down to what your car is going to be setup for. For my car, a tubular manifold does just fine just like every other sr owner.

Basically my main goal is to have a manifold that won't crack, and will last me until I get a bigger turbo and better manfold.

And yeah, extrude hone is unfortunately out due to the cost, oh well.

a good quality tubular manifold will not crack. As long as you have a brace going from the turbo to the block to hold it up, you should be ok. Flex pipes are a good thing to have also.

Many many people have had perfect luck with the megan racing manifold. Some have had it fail but doesn't every other part have a chance of failing?

Yeah I hear ya but if you check my other posts you'll see I've been cracking the tubular manifolds and elbows right and left, even with the proper bracing.

well wouldn't it make sense that if you have cracked more than one manifold that it probably isn't your manifold that is the problem. It's most likely something causing it. And if you are so tired of cracking your manifold, just switch back to stock. Thats really your only other option.

If I were you I would buy another megan manifold, not those ssautochrome ebay manifolds. Then check your whole exhaust system for any kind of binding and weld a flex section in. Here is test pipe with a flex section in it if you dont want to do any welding.

And there is also a brace going from the downpipe to the transmission mount. Many people take it off....its there for a reason.
