Okay, I'm sure this is somewhere on the site but I searched around for a bit (I swear I looked in the tire FAQs and searched many different variations using the search bar) and couldn't really find the answer I was looking for so I figured I'd ask and worst case scenario get yelled at and redirected to where I wanna be.

So tonight for a little light reading I was checking out some information on the 350z and it talked about "W-rated tires." I've seen that a couple times where the tires are (insert random letter here)-rated and tried to figure out what it meant but I don't get it.

So I guess I'm just wondering what the rating indicates and what are the positives/negatives of the different ratings.

[[I'm very clueless about cars so forgive me for the idiot question but I figured what better place to ask than a car forum? Don't hate! ]]

[EDIT: shoot, i found some stuff. i wish i could delete this. anyway, if you have anything to add beyond the stuff on here: zerothread/153811 yeahhhh i'm an idiot. anyway, i think i understand, but if you wanna put it in dummy's terms for me, that'd still be cool. thanks all! ]

Here is the link you need.W and Y are part of Z.Odd math, or rearward thinking when they already used the Z designation.Anyways, the industry brought in the odd letters to fill in the holes between V and endlessness that the Z rating has become.

As long as you search, and say you searched too, then it is not an issue! Which you said, so it is fine!

Our search function is not always the easiest to figure out, although it does have some nice feaures to limit the search in forums and by certain people, etc.

You can also try the Google one (see the upper right corner?) to search NICO. It is faster, but does not have some of the search limit/control settings you might want.

Thanks so much for your help. I'll improve at navigating the forums I'm sure the more I play around on here.
