New here looking for some other fx35's owners opinions. My fiance' and I just bought 2003 FX35 from a wholesaler (2 weeks ago). When we got it home we found that the brakes needed replaced. So we did that. The car is riding VERY rough. It is making a sound like something is warped. We read that the one complaint about these cars was that because of the 20" wheels they have a rough ride, but we didn't expect it to be this bad. My question for anyone here that owns one of these is, is the ride rough and that is just the way these cars are, or is it possibly something wrong? It is still under warranty and not sure if I should take it to the dealer and have them look at it or just a general service mechanic. I just don't want to be gouged by the dealer. Any personal experiences would be very helpful, I'm really hoping it's just the way these cars ride because we love the look of it! Thanks!

That is an attractive vehicle there...I think you need to describe the problem a bit more, ROUGH as in what...vibrates, shakes, feels like u're driving over rocks or what, while moving, standing still, braking?where/when do you hear the sound?elaborate.I'm not a fx owner but may have $0.02.

I have a 2004 FX 35 with Sport and Touring packages. I wouldn't call the ride rough - more like a stiff ride. The suspension combined with the the 20" wheels does make it a little less forgiving over potholes and other road defects, but that's just the sporty nature of the car. It is more than made up for by the fact it the performance on twisting roads is great - especially for an "SUV". I live in AZ where the roads are very smooth - especially in the Phoenix area - so I don't have any complaints to speak of.

The 18" wheelset might help you out. Consider trading down to these with another Forum member that wants to trade up. Also, how many miles are on the stock suspension? Might be time for a replacement.

Enjoy the FX - it's a great car!!!

I have a 2003 FX45 with the Premium package.

While I of course don't know exactly how your car feels, my gut feeling is that this is simply how these cars are.

My FX45 has 20000 miles on it and needs new brake pads and rotors on all 4 wheels.

20 inch wheels are too big for this vehicel IMO.

Go to a good strong set of 18's.
