extremely rough idling, smell gas, liquid leaking...no smell...(water maybe)

hi...my car has been rough idling for a while...no problems...but all of a sudden 2nite...my car started idling hella rough...and the exhaust was makin a putting sound...later i smelled gas...than when i moved my friend noticed a small puddle of liquid...i put my hand on the liquid and smelled it...has no color, or smell...like water or somethin...and my car has never leaked anything before...what could have happened?

was your a/c running....a/c usually produces clear odorless puddles under a car...
