OH MY GOD! will you beat loop to the big reveal?surmanm wrote:So i got my rear bumper in and took it to the body shop just wanted to tell you guys what the body shop told me the material is very sturdy better then the material that stillen uses better to paint and prep, the bumper itself needed work since it was not straight basically if you glide your hand across their bumper you will feel how wavy the plastic is don't know if that's just how its molded or what not, but my auto body guy told me it needed a good amount of work to get it perfectly smooth. should be done by the end of the week i will post pictures ASAP:bigthumb
p.s the bumper comes with mesh inserts in the center and sides
im having my guy paint the bottom black or matte the bumper blue of course i was thinking of having the mesh painted blue will see how it looks, engine cover and brake pads ALL BLUE should be done by the end of next week.mcheddadi wrote:

this , is , EPIC! And best of all, its going on a blue coupe!
The Urethane bumpers Stillen uses are plenty sturdy.. and are not particularly difficult to prep... the problem is that most shops either don't know how to properly prep Urethane kits, or are just too lazy to do so... they must be prepped differently than other materials.. but to say "better" is not quite an accurate adjective... perhaps "easier" or "requires less work"surmanm wrote:...the material is very sturdy better then the material that stillen uses better to paint and prep
Surmann, I can tell you from Jump street you are gonna both applause and ridicule for your choice in body kit.... IMO, I absolutely love the Kenwstyle rear of the Ed kit... but some other folks hate it.. in the end, I think you will be the FIRST A/C on these forums with the Ed kit... again, forget about everything else, I can't wait to see this thing on your car... especially in blue!surmanm wrote:thanks rjdmmfl1 I will tell you this much im just going by what my auto body guy said he is the one that installed my full stillen kit and from what he told me first of in order to get perfect fitment i had to leave my car with him i couldn't just leave the bumper come back and put it on myself from what my guy told me was that he had to cover the whole bumper with a layer of some stuff i forgot what its called before primer in order to make it nice and smooth, compared to the urethane stillen parts which are alot more flexible and pliable i mean you can feel the difference in materiel between the two products stillen and ed. ultimately the best materiel is oem.
I'll be moving back to Baltimore by next November... still a ways off, but unlike when we were in high school, we know how fast a year goes by in grown up years!surmanm wrote:thanks again rjdmmfl1 .... yo when are you moving to our side off the cost i cant wait to see your car
adidas2go wrote:The material they use is comparable to Urethane but still not as good. If he has to do work, sand it down and reshape points to make it fit, its not better than STILLEN's product. Not taking STILLEN's side because our thing, just saying, a product thats just prime, paint, and install is far better than a product you have to shape into fitting. Sounds like it has the characteristics fiberglass
They call it Duraflex, but it is made out of fiberglass, plastic, and flex agents.rjdmmfl1 wrote:Uh yeah, surmann, on the ED website, it says the kit is made out of Fiberglass... so what is it? Is it fiberglass or Duraflex?
I know what your talking about. I will get back to you on that.surmanm wrote:my auto body guy told me it needed a good amount of work to get it perfectly smooth.
IMO, I would stick with the black mesh.surmanm wrote:i was thinking of having the mesh painted blue will see how it looks.
when i got it in the mail the mesh was attached (molded) to the rear of the bumper, its just a fine grade silver mesh, smaller then the mesh you buy in pepboys for the front stillen fascia, i figure paint it blue to match the color of the car since hes already painting the bumper see how it looks and if i don't like it i can always respray it to black.dangeris wrote:Very Nice! I can't wait to get the ED rear myself! Surmanm, is the mesh silver or black or do you need to paint it to what you need it? And am I to expect to have my bodyshop do the same (sanding it smooth) to have it fit perfectly?

the body shop showed me when i came in and was examining the bumper to pass my hand along the bumper you fell that its wavy and not straight and smooth, they used i guess some kind of compound or spray not exactly sure thats why its going to take i a couple of days whatever i just want it to turn out perfect thats it im in no rush

dont be a hater haha. ive been interested in the ED kit since seeing the prototype shots.rjdmmfl1 wrote:
I agree with you Surmanm. I was debating on getting it but with the Stillen front fascia, I think that the ED rear is gonna look sick in code red, and "tie" everything in. With the diffuser in matte black and the screen in gloss black to match my font screening it's gonna look hawt!!!!!surmanm wrote:You know im going to tell you i also dont want something flashy i want a clean look i was debateing with myself the very same issue before buying it ,the pictures online especialy without the mesh and not painted dont look great but with the mesh painted and the bottom either black or matte i think will look sick . I think its a good product and will flow well with the contors of the car well we will see
Don't worry man! I'll post up pics as soon as it finished! I think it'll be lower than what it is now so I think it's really gonna compliment the overall lookBmore-coupe wrote:cant wait to see how that looks. i also have the front screen on the stillen fascia in black and the rockers, but im concerned that the ED rear will be lower than the rest of the car and ruin the body lines. if they are comparable in height, i may have to invest soon too.
post pics asap
Well that all depends who you bought it off from. When I called ED, the price for the rear was $379 + shipping. $140 to a business, $170 to a home I searched around a bit and found this website and they only charged $110 for shipping and the rear bumper for $318. A no brainer Needless to say I had it shipped to the shop as I wont have a vehicle that I can throw this thing in. The shop is less than a mile from my house but I'm thinking that the box would get really heavy really fast if I had to carry it there.surmanm wrote:Yeah i also have the front fasica painted black , im not worried about the hight it will match ill get pictures as soon as its done . Yo how much did they charge you for shiping the box is huge .
i understand that it will be lower than the current rear bumper, i was concerned that it will be lower than the stillen side skirts and fascia. what do you thinkdangeris wrote:

Judging from the pictures on ED's website, i don't think it'll be that lower. remember, the Stillen side skirts are only 1/2" lower than stock. Since the rear wheel "breaks up" the line going from the bottom edge of the skirt to the bottom edge of the bumper, I don't think the difference will be that noticeable...that is if there is a difference in height. It'll work out, you'll see!Bmore-coupe wrote:
