Greetings,

I will be purchasing the Extreme Dimensions Fiber Glass Hood in the upcoming week. I know that many of you have the Extreme Dimensions Carbon Fiber Hood, and advocate for getting the hood pins installed for safety purposes. I would like to know if you all would also promote the necessity of the hood pins for the fiber glass version of the hood as well. I am not sure if the only reason that the pins are necessary for the carbon fiber version comes from its light weight.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

It is still recommended. No significant weight differences from the carbon fiber. Only difference is the carbon fiber is layed over the fiberglass. Just take into consideration that the fiberglass will need a good amount of prep before painting or else you will see waves, similar to dents, when painted.

I would recommend pins (or latches) for a pure fiberglass hood as well. The CF one, like Loop said, is also fiberglass but with carbon fiber on top. The weight difference wasn't significant (to me it felt the same). Which is why I was okay with out having latches, but now I know better.

OP, we do recommend that pins be used for all of our hoods. The simple fact being that the part can be lighter than OEM so with all the air trying to push it, the latch could fail. If you have pins or something similar, this won't happen.

On another note, NICO members get special pricing when purchasing directly through me. Let me know when you're ready to place your order!
