This is part of my ongoing series before i install my SR that i ordered. Im doing a auto to manual swap at the same time im swapping in the s13 SR into my 89 fastback. Iv read that the swap with the swap to manual as well requires extra wiring to be done. I have yet to find where that wiring takes place and what has to be done.. Anyone know? If there is nothing it should be easy to throw in my master/slave/transmission/shifter/crossmember/lines...etc etc. If anyone knows about the wiring i would love you long time.

I am considering a similar swap, there seems to be more auto's around than manuals, so I figure to do a manual swap using the sr20's transmission. Here are my thoughts on the auto to manual swap: It should be fairly straightforward. Obvious things you will need are pedal assy's, clutch master cylinder and slave and lines, shifter, console pieces for the 5 speed, transmission crossmember. There should be no electronics to deal with going to the manual transmission except for wiring up the neutral safety start and backup lights both which are non-electronic. You should just need to disconnect the electronic wires from the auto and tape them off. My only real concern would be, is the driveshaft the same?I know with the 4th gen Maxima, several people have done a transmission swap and the automatic wiring just get taped off.

Ok so there is no electronic rewiring, just unplugging... No the auto driveshaft is different than a manual. Buy a front clip Sr, it will have all the parts your looking for including the right driveshaft and all the other parts you talked about. Do you know where those plugs are? Im thinking right under the shifter but it would be a bictch if they were hidden someplace else.

Are you sure about the driveshaft? I didn't think it did, but it shouldn't be too hard to find one. All the wires will lead to the transmission, so finding them shouldn't be difficult. You have to disconnect them from the transmission before you take it out anyway.

Yes i am positive about the driveshaft. Thats why im buying a front clip. it would be easier too cuz u got to use the crossmember, mounts for your manual transmission, etc. Buying a FC really helps out with the cost.

i think the only thing you might have to wire is maybe the rear back up lights. I know i had to when i swaped the manual into my auto- staurn. btw where did you get the front clip?I have a 90HB auto , and i have so gotten the slave cyliner and lines and driveshaft off a 92 manual 240.
