When I bought my 08 Altima Coupe it only came with one set of keys...I bought it used at an Aucra dealership.

anyways how much is a 2nd set, and do I have to go to a Nissan dealership for a 2nd set?

You;d have to go to a Nissan Dealership for a 2nd set and they're probably not cheap. It'd have to be programmed for your car too.

Ya they're not cheap. I think around $50 (but that is a total guess, don't take my word) sucks that it only came with one key though, that's kind of odd...

Nissan dealerships in my area charge around $200 for a new set to be cut and programmed.

You could probably save some money by picking up the proper remote/blank key off eBay (for example, this or this - sans physical key - part number is 285E3-JA02A) for less than what your dealership charges and take it to them to program the remote/cut the key.

I would def. get the key from Ebay. My dealer charges $90 to program, so you still need to be ready to shell out some money.

I believe he meant American Dollars, the OP is from Washington and I THINK Daan. is from Australia maybe? Anyway\

I would have guessed $200. That is not just Nissan, but all the dealerships. Nissan might be that touch more because they have to cut the key also.

It might work to get a new one...if you just took it in and said the battery was dead and have them replace that (which they will do for free). Then, when you leave say "WTF, it won't work with my car now!?!" and see if they will reprogram it. If not...ohwell, you pay the money you would have paid anyway.

Yeah, they won't bother to check the battery or the claim that it "doesn't work" at all Get real.

Stop advocating committing fraud.

It would take them more time to check the battery then it would to just replace it...the battery would be no big deal and really...Fraud? Who DIDN'T the dealership commit fraud against? My dealership commited fraud against me by saying my car had parts that it never ever has had...but because I can't do anything about it, that is ok. Because the dealership has the bank roll to do something against me...then it is Fraud...

1) Walk out to the car2) Push button on remote to test3a) If remote works, save $3 by not replacing the battery3b) If remote doesn't work, replace battery

Yeah, let's all go around ripping off the hard-working guys that service our cars just because you're too cheap to get a key reprogrammed.

Just because your dealership pissed in your cereal doesn't give you or anyone else the right to turn around and do the same to them.
