I replaced my factory GPS antenna with an external one I got off of eBay. and it made a big difference. the only problem with it is that the hood and trunk lid is aluminum. And the wire that came with the new antenna was to short to make it from the navi unit to the roof. So right now i have it in the center of my dash and it still is working very good at. here is a link to the antenna I got off eBay.

good to know, i have a kendwood system and i remember that wire is pretty long. i'll give it a try as well.
p.s you don't have to move the antenna out to the roof as long as you have signal. i think the original antenna location was good but without a proper grounding and a big @$$ plastic over it kills any chance of a clear reception

I just join this forum, and when i went to click on the ebay link it was already pulled down by ebay.
I was wondering if you know the make and model for the external GPS antenna, or does anyone have a list of external GPS antennas that work with the 2006 infiniti M35x GPS system (which i believe hooks up from the back of the bluetooth NAV box).
My m35x did not come with the GPS NAV system, so i have to buy all 3 pieces (screen, the climate control center piece, bluetooth DVD Nav box).
Also, does anybody know, can i do a straight swap of the components using the existing M35x stereo harness, or do need to get the wiring harness that came with the 3 piece nav system.
I am hoping that all the wiring is there to that i don't have to worry about the wiring harness, and i am hoping to get an external GPS antenna since i do not have the factory antenna.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
