Quick question - when you are playing a video on your stock screen via an external DVD or iPod and the RCA jacks in the console, if you shift to reverse (and don't already have a back-up camera), does the screen go blank...ie - do you need the emergency brake on at all times?

My question is due to the wireless reverse camera I am installing on my EX35. The camera gets power when the car is in reverse and the reverse lights are on. This transmits a signal to the receiver that is powered by a USB cord in the 12v socket and a video cord in the yellow RCA input/jack, which is supposed to switch your screen to AUX mode and display the camera's image. Am I going to need to tackle that emergency brake bypass thingy also? My goal was to not have to take apart the console/dash area to get to those wires,,,but if I have to, well then I have to.

If I do need to take it apart and ground that emergency brake sensor wire, I also see a minor and discrete carbon fiber material wrap simultaneously.

any and all help appreciated. If anyone has those old photos for the emergency brake mod, that would be awesome too.

Hmmm

I know that non-backup camera equipped cars like mine do not change the monitor based upon using reverse but I am not sure if the function changes when using the video inputs or not. Which seems to be what you are needing to know. I don't have a device to really test. :(

Would be interesting to know as well

well it turns out that I will need to do the bypass for both the brake and the speed sensor after all. NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!. I installed the wireless camera and you do have it in AUX with the brake engaged (just actually barely touched) but as soon as you go more than a few MPH in reverse, the screen says Video will resume after vehicle stops....or something like that.
Good thing was that it was a simple install, removing the rear hatch inner cover thing was simple and I just velcro'd the transmitter inside there before I re-installed the cover and while I was there, I changed the license bulbs to LED too. Much nicer.

Anyone want to tell me how easy the brake/speed sensor bypass mod was? Please!
