I'm not sure of the actual part name but it is the little black "buttons" on the outside exterior side windows. A couple of mine are rusting and I wanted to know if they are fairly easily replacable. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can replace them fairly easy... Theyre cheap from Joe.

Best way to get them off is to take a dremel and cut a notch into them and simply unscrew with a screwdriver. You can put them back on by threading them down with your thumb

I was wondering the same thing! Do you have a part number?

How about the window guide thingies (little squarish guys at the edge of the window trim? Mine are crumbling quite badly.

Damn Wes ...you're a genious! I bought the black buttons from the dealer a long time ago and never replaced them, because of how complicated it would be to do it the "proper" way. Now, I'm going to do it your way...once again

Wes is right about cutting a screwdriver slot in the button, but you will also have to apply some pressure on the threaded part that is in the window track. This is the male threaded part that rides in the track and the button screws onto it, holding the window in place. I carefully wedged a screwdriver in the track, behind the male threaded part - putting pressure on it so it would not twist as you remove and replace the button. Another tip, as you're screwing on the new button, thumb pressure is not enough so take make a "stick tack" out of duct tape or any strong tape, tighten the new button by hand then stick on the tape and use it as a "wrench" to tighten it down fully. IMO, this gets it tighter than just thumb pressure.

Ok - So I'm standing out in the drive enjoying the 98 degree weather here. I've managed to unscrew the old buttons and replace all but the passenger side front. This button just spins - any advice before I break the window out of frustration?

Not a screwdriver - my fingers. I was afraid to scratch or crack the glass.I'm definitely putting pressure on the glass, because I can see it move tighter against the outside seal. The rest of the "buttons" were a cinch. This one is a PITA!

LOL!!!!!!!! No it was from the old Q, and I wanted to remove the windows from the door.

Darrin, youll need to put something in between the window and the door frame to push it slightly out... basically theres a threaded screw that slides up and down in the window rail, and once its loose it can just flop around...

I grabbed the BFSD and jammed it against the washer behind the glass - that stopped it from spinning.

My Q is starting to act like Christine - new parts popping up everywhere!

What's the difference between 80390-60U10- BUSH and 80391-60U10-? The latter part number was found from a TSB on the Rusty window button issue. Has anyone had the 80390-60U10- start to rust again?

I plan on doing this soon! :frown:
