Wes is right about cutting a screwdriver slot in the button, but you will also have to apply some pressure on the threaded part that is in the window track. This is the male threaded part that rides in the track and the button screws onto it, holding the window in place. I carefully wedged a screwdriver in the track, behind the male threaded part - putting pressure on it so it would not twist as you remove and replace the button. Another tip, as you're screwing on the new button, thumb pressure is not enough so take make a "stick tack" out of duct tape or any strong tape, tighten the new button by hand then stick on the tape and use it as a "wrench" to tighten it down fully. IMO, this gets it tighter than just thumb pressure.
