first, let me say I tried to search for the answer, but I could not find a conclusive answer. MY friend and I went to look at an S14 sr20det for his 240. The engine is in imaculant condition minus the harness which is cut just behind the engine. I know the engine runs because I've seen it do so. Is the engine worth buying? He want's 2000 for it. What can I do about the harness? I appreciate all the help.Scott:withstup

If the engine comes with more than just the transmission and engine itself it *might* be worth $2000. How did you see the engine running? Depending on where the harness is cut, it may just need to be replaced. Wiring harness' cost about $450, and for an S14 you might have to wait awhile before one becomes available.

It was in a car that I saw in a show one time. The guy is a pretty good guy I've bought a couple of other things from him. But the harness is trashed. So I guess the real question is how do I get a new one?

a new harness you can get from enjuku for something like 400 or 500 but that's brand spankin new. I think HT's got some used ones, but not much cheaper. Only other option I can really think of is checking out ebay. Harnesses are super expensive nowadays, apparently too many people have been pulling them from sr's in japan and they're getting scarce now. I was in that situation earlier but got a used one now.
