My husband and I recently purchased a certified pre-owned 2011 Rogue. We apparently got sold the Security+ Extended Protection Plan. I just looked up the brochure online because this is the first I'm hearing of this, and the fine print says that it doesn't cover anything not covered by the CPO Limited Warranty. The woman I spoke with at 1-800-NISSAN-1 was absolutely no help and just kept telling me she can send me the contracts again if I lost them.

Since the limited warranty and the extended warranty have the same expiration date and mileage, I'm beginning to feel like we got duped into paying $2000 that we didn't need to. Is there a difference between these two warranties? Would we be better off canceling the extended warranty?

Sounds like the "woman I spoke with at 1-800-NISSAN-1" was at a call center reading from a script. At the very least, she should directed you to the proper website for further info.

Speaking of an extended warranty... WIll Nissan allow me to add the extended warranty after my purchase for a good price?

I know with my prior BMW's you can add the extended at anytime and different dealers will negotiate the price with you.

It's the same - you can typically get the same type of deal on a warranty as long as your vehicle is currently in the factory warranty. You can go to different dealers to get a better price.

Here's some quick info - post6555444.html

I'm a big fan of the aftermarket ext warranties... they've served me well. When you consider the cost of replacing an AC compressor, or a Body Control Module, or worse yet, a transmission, the up-front cost is totally worth the peace of mind.

I always tell people, you're buying a $50K car (when new). If you're gonna quibble over $1500-$2000 for a warranty, buy a used Corolla. :)
