I have had 2 repairs under the extended warranty. An SES light led to replacing coils.....and my digital clock was skipping around on the hour function. Have you guys had extended warranty issues?

I've had $6500 in work done under my extended (afermarket) warranty.

Cost me $1500 plus 5 $50 deductibles.

My 2000 I30t is still under the 4 Year/60,000 mile factory warranty. I am having the seat warmer switch replaced, under warranty. The right rear strut is starting to squeek, but the dealership has not been able to repeat the noise. Only work I have had done on the car, other than regular servcie.

I am interested in the extended warranty. Scott, did you buy yours when you bought the car, or later? I have the guy's number, at the dealership, to ask, but haven't called him, yet.

Do you recall what you paid for the extended warranty?

When I got my 98Q last year it was 3k mi and 2 months from the orig 4yr/60k factory warranty and when I had it into the Infiniti dealer for the pre-purchase inspection, they said if I did decide to get the car they'd sell me a 3 yr extended warranty (w/ a $50 deduct per visit) for about $950, if I was interested. Had about $1800 worth of work done in a year and a half (radio, remote, tension rods, etc) and no neg. issues. Was hoping they'd give me new shocks but they wouldn't go for it.... Plus the guy is cool and throws me keys to a sweet loaner! Love those G35s!

Don't buy your extended warranty through the dealer!

They make a commission (which you then pay for).

I got mine at the same time after buying my 95' Q with 47,000 miles. Cost me 1500 with 50 deductible.......just got Q out of the shop, the bill was 2800 I paid 200 which includes the 50 and new belts. 4 years or 48,000 miles. Go on line and compare......not cost......what they offer in return.

Greg, they do not offer the program in Alabama, but they will contact me when it is available.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking around $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 for the 100,000 mile / 84 month warranty. Miles are really not the issue, unless I retire the Q, and start driving the I30 to work.

I'll let you know what the dealer says.

With the recent bankruptcies of some extended service companies leaving millions without coverage and no recourse. Think carefully!

At this time till things settle down I would only buy thru dealers because if a dealer sells it to you they are on the hook for the companies performance in most states. Give them their $250 commission as extra insurance! Make sure your separate check is made out to the dealership "for extended warranty 7 years/100k miles".

I got an extended warranty for my wife's Expedition through Allstate....4 years , 48 months, 1300 dollars.... less than 5k miles remaining.....haven't used it yet.... oh 50 dollar deductible...

I am thinking about taking it in to the Ford dealer soon....seems like they would have an interest in replacing something.

autowarrantybroker.com is who I would look at. They are the only company I have found that is actually backed by a large US insurance company, rather than hinky off-shore "reinsurance" companies. I went with Warranty Gold initially, and thankfully my bank went after them and got a charge-back for me on my Visa check card.

It ended up to be $1400 for 72 month/100K for their plan that covers everything except normal maintenance stuff.

Hmmm....

You think I can get a 3 year 275,000 mile warranty? I doubt they'd insure my car. Hehe.

Nick :)

Obviously you haven't tipped the technican [$100] to find things wrong so you can get you money back. If you look hard enough or test well enough........you would be surprised at what has failed worn enough.

I had a good transmission [or so I though] that was on the ragged edge.

Modern cars are usually pretty good till 100k, that's when all hell breaks lose.A new AC compressor or driveshaft, an alternator, master cylinder.

Find out what fails when and get to focusing on replacements.

No need to tip the tech. I think this says more about the tech than the warranty-holder ("Ford Master Tech" is a HUGE oxymoron).

The dealership makes big $$$ if they find something wrong. If they can't find something worth replacing on that POS, then they've got Roy Orbison and Ray Charles working on your Expedition.

I have NEVER left Infiniti of Scottsdale without a repair. They love me there, and Quella gets their undivided attention. :D

I just found another company that offers limited coverage beyond 100K miles, and I'll be checking it out and seeing if it's legit and worth the money.

well, i originally got the warranty because of Fords noted problems with transmissions and A/C compressors.....

I now have about 92k on the vehicle..... have only replaced tires and brakes...and of course oil every 3k....

but I will take it in and still tip the tech....maybe 50 bucks to start...

Tipping: because techs are only paid for work they do, not to diagnose, so they are not use to being methodical.

The $100 was if they found $2,000-$3,000 and convinced the service manager to push the insurance company and it was successful.$25 gets their atttention to start looking plus you may have to pay the dealership an hour for taking up space.Years ago a $100-$200 got a brand new transmission, now most insurance companies have inspectorss to keep everybody honest.

They get paid EXTRA if they find an excuse not to pay the contract.

Thanks for all your help. I have the quote for the 100,000 7 Year warranty, for around $1,400.00. with a $25 deductible. This is not a bad deal. I will call the dealership, next week, to see if their deal is better, or worse.

Jeff, you can get 100000 miles and 84 months at the dealer. This should be around $1250. No deductions. Check this out first.
