Well said!seldomseen wrote:Keep in mind the cost of extended warranties are negotiable and the cost also depends on the type of coverage being purchased and if the plan has a deductible or not. You should also confirm if the extended warranty plan you purchase offers a refund if its never used or if there's a prorated refund upon expiration of the plan---many plans offer this benefit. Many folks also find that it's easier to come up with the additional $5.00 - $20.00 month to finance the cost of an extended warranty than it is to come up with $500-$2,000 to cover the cost of a repair that occurs after the bumper to bumper warranty expires. If you keep an Infiniti beyond five years, you will very likely use the extended warranty.
Yep. I had gotten the same quote from Ms. Mutema in Arizona. Since my car was in for service anyway at the dealer where I bought it (and I had been pleased with my dealings with them so far) I wanted to give my dealer the opportunity to earn my business on the warranty. The F&I guy He said he'd provide the same warranty for another hundred bucks just so he had something to show the GM, so that's what I went with.AWGD8 wrote:I had to pay $120 for my dealer to inspect my car and I had to mail the report to the lady from New Jersey. I was originally talkng with the lady from Arizona and then went to the lady from NJ. She took another $50 off from the Arizona quote.
It was 48m/60k. $50 deductible.

Nope....our standard warranty is the same. Problem is, I bought a 3 year old used EX with 49k miles on it---AND plan on keeping it for many years past the standard warranty's duration. As you get closer to the standard warranty's expiration miles-wise, the cost of the extended warranty climbs drastically. So, the 1500 beans I laid out will continue the standard warranty coverage for another 4 years (starting at purchase of the ext warranty) or an additional 50k miles....whichever comes first.EXceptional wrote:Double-dipping? Why are you guys buying anything?
Our Complete-vehicle Warranty was for 4 Years... and was included.
Then there is a 6 Year/110,000 Km Powertrain Warranty, too.
Heres how it's written on our Window Sticker.
Is it different in the USA ?
Do you have the contact info for the "lady in New Jersey"?AWGD8 wrote:I had to pay $120 for my dealer to inspect my car and I had to mail the report to the lady from New Jersey. Sounds like a good way to go. Thanks for that Tim. I think I'm going to wait until my QX has 29,900 miles, or until October 2014 (when my basic warranty expires). No sense in getting it now (23,700 miles). Courtney (in Arizona) said the price would change at 30,000 miles.TimGinCentralNJ wrote:Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would again use a quote from the nice lady in AZ as a basis for negotiating a deal with my local dealer. I was fine paying an extra $100 and giving my dealer (who I've had good experiences with) the business.
As with any case when dealing with insurance, I would continue to "push" this issue and escalate as high as you need to in order to get results. I wasn't aware Infiniti listed covered items by their part numbers, as usually it's just a list of named parts (?), but this sounds kind of fishy to me.cars4wayne wrote:I bought the Elite Protection Plan when I purchased my G 35 in 2008. Never used unitl this week my sunroof stopped working come to find out it seems that only some part numbers are covered under the Elite Plan. They replaced the sunroof motor but the problems are the guide rails, although the plans says sunroof assembly, sunroof guide rails are covered. It seems the part number for my guide rails is not covered under this plan. That would be the same part number for all G series sunroofs. Waiting to hear from Infiniti USA on this one.

Glad to hear it. They should have in the event they'd like to keep you as a customer.cars4wayne wrote:My dealer Cerritos Infiniti went to bat for me, they got Infiniti to pick up the tab for the repairs. I am good to go.
That's good news! Yeah "Bumper to bumper " warranty should mean bumper to bumper! Unless it is a wear and tear parts.....TimGinCentralNJ wrote:Glad to hear it. No idea whether your experience falls under this category, but I've run across numerous situations where the dealer's has more latitude in a situation than they lead on, but they make it look like they've "gone to bat" for you and won--when all the while they could've approved it themselves. Either way, I'm happy they covered it for you. Good news!
