Explosive Runes

My friends and I some times play Pathfinder, and I always wanted to make a magical trap. The first thought came to me when I read the Explosive Runes spell in d and d 3.5 and read someone said on a forum if a explosive rune was damaged it would auto explode. So I thought of making a book of nothing but explosive runes and having someone read it and it doing Xd6 damage to the reader and anyone near by. My friends tell me that would not work.

Now that we are playing Pathfinder I read the spell and was wandering if I attach the rune to a chest ( like on the back of the chest right on the latch or on the front on the lock ) and the chest gets opened splitting the rune ( and the rune is destroyed but not read ). Would the rune explode. And if so, the chest if filled to the brim with Alchemist's Fire. Would all of the Alchemist's Fires go off as well in the explosion?
