Some interesting stuff there... I didn't know our gas tanks were under our rear passenger seat. That explains the super-low floor of the trunk.

And memory foam FTW!

Interesting ....

Memory foam .. no wonder my a$$ keeps falling asleep when I drive just kidding!!

I wonder if he realiezed he called it a CVT and yet it had a manual transmission when they showed the interior. Also he said "it [Versa] is a near lixury car in Japan". I've been to Japan many times when I was active duty military and they have much nicer cars than the Versa. I wonder if the MR series for the engien is for MuskRat.

13.2 Gas tank? Mine can barley hold 10 gallons when the Fuel light comes on.

I knew about the memory foam before we bought it. Comfort and passenger room were more important to us than the few miles per gallon we would have gained by buying a higher priced, more MPG car.

I dunno. I'm going on a two hour trip with my son in his Civic SI. Hope I don't get the back seat!

Near luxury. If you can understand Japanese, go to Nissan of Japan. The Tiida in Japan is definately upscale. They show it with Leather interiors and navigation, etc.

Whoa. Did you see that Micra on that site? If my conversion site was accurate, it gets better than 50 MPG.

13.2 prob includes the mini reserve after it hits "E".

That's nothing. There are hdi turbo diesels by Peugeot that get 48/69 mpg and a 1 liter gas car that gets 51/68 mpg. And I remember reading about a Fiat diesel that gets 55/74 mpg. Of course these are SMALL cars!

Has anyone tried that? I get 10 gallons before it hits the light...never really pulled a 'Kramer' to see how much more I could go.

You could always throw a gas can in the trunk and find out one day if you're really curious.

My last tank I rode it until the needle was below "E" and the light had been on for a little over 40 miles. I couldn't stand it, so I stopped for gas, and could only put in 12.2 gallons. Maybe next time!

FYI: I think that the manual is actually a CVT that you shift... that is what the dealer told me.

Huh? That doesn't make any sense...you shouldn't believe everything the dealer tells you, they're usually clueless about 1/2 of the features, and BS on the fly to cover for it.

The point of a CVT is that it doesn't shift. It doesn't have gears. Instead, it continually changes ratios providing a smooth transition while accelerating or slowing down. The 6MT on the other hand is a conventional 6-speed manual gearbox with gears that you select. A "CVT that you shift" is an oxymoron.

On my first test drive, the salesman said "isn't that 1.5 L engine smooth?"...uh, buddy, you've only got so many cars in the lot to learn about, do your homework. I bit my tongue though and just said "yes" instead of correcting him, I figured why bother at that point.

I'm usually getting about 350 miles on a "full" tank before the low fuel light comes on. I am curious as to how long I can keep driving once that light comes on, because when I go to refill, I can only get about 10 or 11 gallons in. Max was last night with 12. That still leaves a gallon to meet the 13.2 it's supposed to hold.

Weird, when I try and watch that video, I get a message:

The CVT on the Versa doesn't even have a manumatic mode. Go to a Nissan dealer and test drive a CVT Altima. play around with its manumatic mode, and you'll notice that it has six "speeds"... which are actually pre-set ratio configurations that the CVT will automatically go to when told to.

Also, note the lack of clutch pedal on the CVT. It doesn't need one, even in manumatic mode.

The manual is just that. A manual. 6 forward gears, 1 reverse. Hydraulic clutch. No frills, no gimmicks.

That's cool to know. I was thinking I could drive more, but the times I'm on E, I don't really have the option of chancing it because it always seems to happen when I have a long, time sensitive commute.
