I have made a similar post in Infiniti General about this subject. I have gotten peoples opinions about this exhaust modification. Now, I would like to know what engineers think about this system.

http://www.superstang.com/powered_exhau ... htmlHere's a drawing http://filebox.vt.edu/users/mi...m.jpgh ... nc...r=361+ http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm

What would this modification do to any car?

personally i think it is pure poo poo. old 3000gt's had a system like that stock but it was puter controlled. if you want a straight pipe you want a straight pipe. a valve of any sort will just cause probs. whenever a wave hits a change in pipe cross section it is reflected. do you know the effect this would have on your exhaust? i dont. save that device for a riced out cavalier or somthing.

I can speak to this.

Reflected waves cause resonance, unpredictable resonance.

It could sound like a Siamese cat in a blender, or it could sound like a Q45 with an exhaust leak.

You break out the Sawzall and you take your chances.

p.s. We manufacture a tuned, tested catback for the Q45 that optimizes power and sound - You COULD copy it, but you'd only save $100 or so.

How much does it cost. What do you mean I could only save $100 by doing it myself. Does your system cost under $200? Because I can/could make one similar to your tuned one for less then $100. Excluding mufflers and resonators, of course. And yes, I can incorporate a crossover pipe. And pertaining to my welds being restrictive, I grind them down and polish them up.

Ok, I won't argue anymore in this thread. I promise.

Thanks for the information. Can you give me some links so that I can read up on what you're talking about.

I think you answered your own question. Better start welding so we can see the pictures. Oh, and the BRM includes resonators and mufflers and is available in stainless steel.

Doing is believing. Talk is cheap.

And do spend some time reading the previous posts. The wheel has already been invented.

pmqi genuinly appreciate your interest in technical things. i have a similar interest. i can only say that while q45tech has forgotten more than i will ever know, i have learned a few things from him. he is legit. what i do periodicly is to do a search under his screenname and just read all the stuff he posts. then i track down all his links and put them in a special directory in my favorites section. i go over it all again and again. occasionally i find something else as good. please try my method and see if most questions have not already been answered by "the man".
