expansion valve replacement

i have a 2000 qx4 3.3l. does the expansion valve come out from the engine compartment or from inside the car? any advice would be helpful. am also replacing drier and compressor. the exp. valve is not visible from the engine compartment. thanks.

If it's like all of the other Nissan designs I have seen, it's built in to the evaporator housing, and would be removed from under the dash behind the glove compartment. There should be a good diagram of it located in the factory service manual, which you can view/download at www.nicoclub.com/FSM/
