So I'm in the process of doing up my current exhaust. I'm stepping up from 2" to a 3" setup so i ordered the headers (stainless steel), the catalytic converter and the muffler. The only thing left is what to do bout the tip...? I had an idea and started looking round and found this...

Now the problem is that it seems this tip is no longer in production and the other through body tips really seem lack luster to me. :werd: So i know you guys will have an opinion on this and I oh so luv to hear them good or bad but what i most want is to know where i can get this particular one. If I was to find this one i would put it behind the rear wheel if you think you got something better than let me know.

Not 100% certain on this but, stepping up to a 3" exhaust from a non 3" factoryexhaust stock vehicle might actually yield performance issues. The exhaust size limits exhaust flow creating a certain backpressure that is needed for the motor. I only know of this because i used to own a car where i put a turbo kit on it,the turbines on the turbo create its own form of backpressure and any extra back pressure after the turbine just slows the spool rate of the turbo....so to make the turbo spool faster, i got a larger exhaust to help relieve some of the back pressure. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but just be careful and look into this before deciding on the 3" exhaust

Funny you should mention that, i thought bout it as well but I've talked to some folks bout it and they think it should be fine because the collector on the end of the header is still 2" and I'm not runing a straight through exhaust(Cherry Bomb Vortex) plus the pipe will have a few bends in it to exit off the back. To be honest I'm not looking for crazy proformance gains jus a nice growl if any of this is incorrect I'm open to thoughts. I still got a long ways to go before I'm anywhere close to doing any serious (boring, sleveing, clutch, pistons, valves, ECU, coil packs, cams, ect. you get the idea) work on the engine.

around here we call those fart tips. very popular with the teenage crowd. Makes a lot of noise but your pathfinder will still be slow.... sorry if i sound like a hater but why would you want to draw attention to yourself like that??

No worries Fueler I seem to be a party of one so I'm in good company :woot: :rotflmao Fart tips... well I'm not sure how a 3" tip would affect the sound of a 3" exhaust with a Cherry Bomb muffler but i prefer the clean look look that tip has to offer versus the traditional options (turn down tip under the body, plain metal or chrome tipped pipe sticking out the side or back of the body) and I'm actually hoping for more of a deep growl as far as sounds go. Although no one seems to like my idea I like being different and my things to be uniquely my own and have yet to hear anyone offer up a better idea. I thought bout going dual exhaust since i have the room but than that brings me back to how do i end it you know kinda like the cherry on top of a banana split. And before anyone puts it out there no i will not consider stacks or replacing my running board with a side pipe :slap:  :chuckle:

Being different just for the sake of being different kind of defeats the purpose. If you're trying to be different then you're just kidding yourself and usually setting yourself up for poor decision making. Honestly I think you'd end up wasting a ton of money and time on trying to give a weak-a** V6 a throaty V8 sound. Ever heard the saying you can put lipstick on a pig and it's still a pig? Regardless it's always good to brainstorm and think up new(er) ideas. I originally wanted to route my dual exhaust tips through my bumper cover and flush mounting them with the surface. Kind of like how a lot of chevy's have it with the shaved bumpers but I couldn't find the right grommets.

The bumper idea does sound kinda interesting but the image in my head leads me to think it’s not what I’m looking for. I don't believe I do things jus for the sake of being different other wise I would have fake stick-on non-functional vents on my rig :bash: :rotfl but sometimes you have to try to see if certain things pan out. I seen a pic of a 90's Pathfinder this guy slammed to the ground and change the look of it so much it was hard to even tell it was a Pathy. Now that was different and mad props to him cuz I aint seen one like it since. However that is not what I'm looking for I genuinely do like the clean look that tip has to offer while subtly enhancing the look of an old rig such as mine. Dang "V" sorry you think my engine so weak, call me crazy cuz I luv it :woot: I think I can get alot of performance out of it, but if not its bout the enthusiasm for the hobby. Maybe when you hear it you'll change your mind :poke: :rotflmao

So i got my headers in and i want to wrap them with exhaust wrap. How much should i expect to use to get the job done? i was looking at using 2"wraps jus don't know if 25', 50', or 100' is going to be enough.

I would say go with 100', or maybe a 25' & 50'. When i wrapped my SVTf header i used nearly 50' (2" wide with about a .5" overlap), and it was just a long tube 421 header. Better to overshoot then to come up short.

rule of thumb: if a car or truck has header heat wrap, guaranteed its going to be slow!!

Interesting why is that?

just cause, in street racing, its the fools who spend all their money on useless crap like mufflers and heat wrap, that act fast but then get left in the dust, no offense. There are no fast street cars with any sort of header wrap. That stuff is for rice boys.

i wrapped my header in my SVTf to greatly reduce underhood temps. i was supercharged and was making good power, but that is besides the point. wrapping my header was a must in my case.

reducing underhood temps is always a plus, no matter how much power you are making. especially in a cramped engine bay where your intake piping is in close proximity to your header(s). could be a waste of money though, depends on your setup.
