There are special clamps. They are metal and work just like a zip tie. If you don't have one of those, regular metal hose clamps work just fine. For the amount, a whole roll of 2inch by 50 feet is more then enough for a 4 cyl and this includes aftermarket header ie. hotshot. As for timming, stock is 15 degrees and no you do not need to disconnect the computer as you will need the car to be running when you are timming your vehicle. If you look on your pulley, there are 6 marks. From left to right or passengerside to driverside they are as follows
1st mark - -5 Degrees2nd mark - 0 Degrees or Top Dead Center (TDC)3rd mark - 5 Degrees4th mark - 10 Degrees5th mark - 15 Degrees (STOCK Timming)6th mark - 20 Degrees
Proceedure is as follows
1. Drive the car around so the motor is at normal operating temp2. Shut off the motor3. Remove the Throttle Position Sensor Harness4. Restart your car5. Make sure your idle is at 750 or so RPM6. Using a timming light, put the clamp on the spark plug wire of No. 1 Cyl7. Aim at main pulley and see what mark the pin is pointing at.8. Loosen distributor bolts so you can adjust timming9. Adjust Distributor Accordingly.10. When desired timming is set, tighten the bolts to the distributor and shut off the motor.11. Plug TPS sensor harness back and your complete.
