Hey all,

Looking into getting a "custom" exhaust system, just wondering everyones opinion on what it SHOULD cost me.

Essentially Im trying to build this:

http://www.borla.com/products/product_d ... _sku=11762

I have already contacted Borla and they pointed me to the muffler which is used in that system, I bought it and should have it tomorrow. I have some universal tips as well. Exhaust shop would need to bend and weld the 2.5" inlet pipe from the axle back, bend and weld the two 2.5" outlet pipes, weld on the tips, and hang the whole jazz.

To explain why Im not simply buying the Borla axle back system: The stand alone muffler cost $250 shipped, the best price I found on the entire axle back system new was $750, and anyone that was supposedly selling used was completely unresponsive to my attempted contacts. Im hoping to get out of the exhaust shop at $200 ($450 total cost) or under. Heck if it costs me $300 ($550 total cost) Im still ahead of the game. Im obvisouly going to get a few quotes but what do the pros think this should cost me? Ive never had any exhaust work of this nature done so Im essentially clueless and NOOB.

Thanks for any input.

You might want to talk to Greg about this, he has an exhaust business (BRM).

I'm going to bet that you'll spend between $300-400 for what you've described. I've never seen the underside of the altima coupe, but from the bends mentioned, sounds like a train wreck that someone will probably bid high on because they won't really want the job.

I was afraid of that. If thats the case, I might just return the single-dual and buy two single-singles. Im sure that will knock down the cost if I just split at the axle straight to the rear. But that has me worried about clearance issues, the single-dual should fit right into the stock location.

Greg? Halp!
