Okay so ive had my exhaust for a couple months now and ive noticed that it vibrates a lot. So much so that the sound of it vibrating is louder than the exhaust itself and it also vibrates the inside of my car causing a couple squeaks. Mcheddadi did you ever have this problem when you had the exhaust?

Does anyone know a way i can isolate the vibration to quiet it down and keep it from vibrating my whole car? Its really starting to bother me.

it doesnt sound like its tapping against anything it just sounds like the whole unit itself is vibrating

i don't have the artisan exhaust but i do have a full cat-back exhaust with a magnaflow muffler..... i get drone and vibrates all the time. on the hwy i crack open my electronic exhaust cut-out to balance out the sound lol but a better thing to do (what i eventually plan on doing) is put sound deadening. it's usually used for sound systems but i heard it does wonders for exhaust noise and road noise.

Ive already put almost an entire 50sq ft roll in my car and it has done almost nothing to kill the sound of the vibration. I used B-quiet and put it on the bottom of the trunk under the spare and under the back seat and rear quarter panels and its just as loud.

It mainly vibrates around 2k-3k rpms when accelerating, whether its from a cruise or if i just gun it i get it every time.

In Mcheddadi's thread where he was selling his Artisan he said that he soldered another bolt to the exhaust for less noise. Could this be a solution ???

No, the bolt he soldered was to reduce static in the radio. And it doesnt sound like its a bolt thats makin the sound. it sounds like its the entire exhaust and only happens during acceleration. the only thing i can think to compare it to is a tuning fork.

I've got an Artisan system on my car. You first said that your exhaust had a bad vibration and I wasn't sure what you meant. Then you said it sounds like a tuning fork. Do you mean your exhaust has a droning sound. I think that is what you mean. If it is, that is normal for the Artisan system. Mine does it. It starts at about 2250 rpm until about 2750 to 3000 rpm. Doc rode in my car last weekend and knows what we are talking about. He and I were talking about sound deadener.

Hey Doc, you talked about using two different types of mats in the car. A Dynomat type of deadener for the sound system and another type on top of that for the road/exhaust noise. Something about different types of noise. Sonic vibrations and something else, or something like that.

hey joshua! In my car it didn't vibrate, it was more of a pure bass kinda sound. Was really nice.

here are some tips for the vibration:

for sound deadening you should try using eDead v3 http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_24just put 3-5 coats on the metal floor and around that exhaust well (in the car)it will reduce about 3dbl of sound

also you can buy a silencer tip but it will restrict performance, or you can get an active silencer like the Apexi ATS Active Tail Silencer it will cancel out everything bellow 3500RPM.

but the ultimate solution would be adding a straight through glass pack style resonator before the muffler and that WILL cancel the vibration without losing performance.http://www.prostreetonline.com...r.asp

Sorry about the misunderstanding in my last post

and sorry but if it was a drone from the exhaust itself wouldn't he have noticed this alot sooner, or am I mistaken again and this has always been there and its just starting to bother him.

If it bugs you that much I can take that exhaust off your hands

When i compared it to a tuning fork i mean more of how a tuning fork vibrates but now that i think about it, it does seem to have a droning sound and it is around those RPM's. Ive already put a some sound dampening in the back of my car and it has done little to nothing to cancel out the drone.

Its kinda always been there but its just starting to really bother me lately. And as far as just cancelling the sound it is more than just a drone, it does vibrate my car a lot and i can definitely feel it.

i think its the drone, cuz my nismo exhaust does the same. this forum is great seriously cause i am also kinda annoyed by the sound a lil when i hit 3 RPM but is afraid to mention it because it may sound dumb. so does anyone know if this happens to them with the nismo cat-back? ty

I have had this exhaust for a long while now, and I second mcheddadi its more like a bass noise to me. And I dont ever get a vibration sound unless I have change in my cup holder.

I love the sound it makes, its not every time but a lot of the time when I pull into a parking lot, or gas station or watever, people will come over and compliment the car and how good it sounds.

O and it turns heads like crazy...ha one time I was in the manual mode and I dropped it down a gear and it revved like up to around 4-5rpm and the guy infront of me moved over I guess he thought it was aimed at him. lol.

I spoke with Tim over @ speedforce, and we are gonna build a custom exhaust for me after the holidays....

the "BASS" note that you guys are speaking of is the drning sound, and in a properly developed exhaust system, that drone can be eliminated. Not to toot anyone's horns, but of I recall correctly, the Stillen Cat back does not have a drone to it, from what I remember hearing. THat sound around 2250 K is horrible in the Artisan exhaust... definitely not music to your ears.

OK, regarding sound deadener, I won't rehash all of the good information on the internet, but bar none, second skin audio has the best stuff on the market. You want both a vibration deadener and a sonic deadener. I would say if you want to improve cabin noise, you should remove the seats, center armrest/storage area, and carpet. From there, apply both types of sound deadener, and you should notice a tremendous difference!

John, this is the next step I want to do to improve the audio in my car. Gonna rip out the entire interior, and place some second skin audio vibration damplifer plus on the floors, and then place a layer of luxury liner over the floors, inside the doors, down in the floorboard and firwall, in the rear quarter panels, over the tires, and in the trunk.

I'm guessing $400-$500 should cover everything. It may sound like alot, but from what I've heard, the difference is like night and day.. especially for you "droners"...lol

Im assuming you mean its a resonating type of sound/vibration. perfectly normal. what you guys are missing is that it is a NA 4 cyl. i have personally experienced the car with straight pipes form the y-pipe back (which would sound almost identical to an axel back exhaust) and it is very droney and vibrates alot! however my buddy has a 3.5 and it does not drone as much with his exhaust.

in my experience, the 2.5 with an exhaust is going to drone and is going to resonate. no way around it really, unless you add resonators...

JOhn (Alien tracker) has a 3.5 and the drone is pretty noticeable there also.... and you're right, its the lack of resonator that allows for the drone... I will DEFINATELY be putting a resonator in my custom exhaust

Thansk Doc, I couldn't remember everything that we had talked about. I'm def. gonna cut and paste this so I can do it after the holidays. I'm a little tapped out right now from buying presents. Have a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
