Exhaust Ticket Help plz

So i just got my first ticket ever and its because of the DC sports cat back exhaust i got installed on the versa. So anyone can give me a basic idea to what is gonna happen when i go to the summons? And what i should do cause i really don't want to remove the exhaust. I have to silencer to i could install that on? He also told me that i wasn't allowed to have tinted windows in the back of the car is that true?I know tinted windows is not allowed in the front windows but the back...... i live in NY btw.

You may need to put the silencer on, to bring the noise level below a certain decibel. I'm not sure about the tint. All of my cars except my Versa have tinted rear windows so it's legal in Florida. Most of this is laws set at a state or city level. Try to find a site from the DMV or whatever group governs traffic laws in NY. They usually publish all the regulations online.

States and their regulations/laws on exhausts and/or muffler mods are pretty much the same in regards to the noise level increases. Though a small percentage of those states go to a point to where they say no muffler or mod to the exhaust may be added at all. Florida is the worst of them all. They have a noise level cut off at way below 95Db (used by most other states). I believe theirs is like at 88Db. I recently drove my Versa across the states from Chicago to Oregon. It has a DC Sports muffler with the resonator removed. I drove past god knows how many cops sittin on the side of the hwy, parked at gas stations gunnin for speeders on my way to Oregon. I know that most if not all cops dont really enforce the exhaust laws. If they do its because the driver buzzed them at 30-40 mph at 4K RPMs or fake drag launching from a red light at 5K RPMs. I was stopped at a red light in Milwaukee WI a few months ago and had two motorcycle cops on my left side where the tip is let out at. They said nothing and rode off.
