I have a 90 completely stock 240 and i was wondering what exhaust system people recomend. I was thinkin of getting an apex N1 system but i don't want anything thats annoyingly too loud.

The N1 exhausts are loud man, you may find that you'll get tickets for having that particular exhausts. I know a few people personally here in Southern California that get tickets all the time for having that exhaust.

Even with BRM, get a resonator and stay at 2.5".

i have a really loud exhaust, and i am in MA. I Have yet to be pulled over for it. i have a 3" striaght pipe from turbo back. it depends, if you plan to go turbo eventually you will want a 3" exhaust. if you aren't going for turbo 2.5" will be perfectly fine. i'd reccomend the RS*R ExMag exhaust.

Yea you're in MA though. It does really depend on where you're at. Cops here in Cali are just looking to pull people over. I went shopping with a fellow 240 owner and cop pulls him over for doing 80 in a 65, even though everyone else is going 80, some 85. What's with that? Exactly. Crazy out here in SoCal.

You haven't had any problems in MA? I got pulled over a bunch in my corolla and not so much with my 240sx. I did less in my 240 because I got sick of being pulled over. My friend got an exhaust ticket because of a crack in his, wasn't after market or anything, wasn't even very loud. Where do you live in MA? I was in Beverly, so I guess the cops might've been worse around the coast. Hell, I had a cop pull me over when I was in an empty parking lot because I was changing the cds in my trunk. The cop made me leave, I hadn't even gotten out of the car.

he's in MA too. and yeah the beverly/hamilton/wenham police suck. the boston area cops are a little more laid back, as they have more to worry about than guys with loud exhausts.

the RS*R is probably the quietest exhaust your going to find, and look kind of stock. it has the same size piping as most other exhausts 80mm witch is 3.15". the Nurspec looks more like an N1, also with 80mm piping.

WTF? If you check Apexi's website. Theres a CHP letter on there stating that it is 50 state legal exhaust. The N1 is below the DB level. It isn't that loud. I posted a thread of me going WOT with the apexi N1 exhaust. Its not loud, beleive me. It comes with a resonator.

Thread to vid>>http://www.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=91960

Don't get me wrong, BRM is an awesome exhaust as well.

Apex N1 is not that loud... their Dual N1 on the other hand is really loud..

that is what I have.. it is one of the loudest exhaust I have ever heard....

I got a noise ticket here in cali. all I did was get some silencers and got it passed...

Don't believe that 50 state legal bs man. Cops around here will still pull you over and still write that ticket for modified exhaust. Trust me, try it in Southern Cali on a Friday night. Chances are if you don't get it the first time, you'll get it eventually.

Well, you can just print the CHP letter off APEXI website and win your court case. Its a California cop too.

Go ahead and print it out, someone else on this board just got a ticket for having the N1 also. Good luck!

Hmm. Would you mind posting a vid of your stupid loud dual N1's? LOL. Either that, or would you mind meeting up with me sometime preferably this weekend or next weekend to check it out (starting winter break ). I like loud exhausts, but they have to sound nice ie. deep and mean while at the same time be able to keep a conversation going inside the car without yelling at the top of my lungs. My friend has a cheap exhaust that is annoyingly loud inside the car (integra). I can't even talk to him inside the car. Since I plan on actually being able to listen to music on a normal basis without going deaf, all in all, I want a nice sounding exhaust that is loud outside, but not inside. I'm guessing some dynamat material of sorts needs to be plastered in various parts of the car to achieve that, but I'm ok with that since ICE guard comes in 100ft. rolls anyway.

Turbo will quiet your exhaust a little, it did for me. You tend to get a pesky sprung a leak sound too.

Before turbo my Apex'i N1 duals were unbarable, surprised I didn't get pulled over.

About how loud do you think they are inside the car driving accelerating from 0-70mph just getting onto a freeway? Is that considered WOT? What does WOT stand for anyway? Something Open Throttle? I always took it to mean flooring it. I get up to redline when I do that even though I'm on an auto. Not too good for my engine, but I'm just looking for an excuse to swap to a fully built one from Ivan . Ok, so back on topic. About how loud would you think it is? Do you think you can talk on the cellphone during WOT with the windows shut? Just need some kind of reference point.

Ok... this is kinda off topic again, but there are two rolleyes emoticons. One is rolleyes and the other is rolleyes (sarcastic), but I don't see any difference at all. Am I blind or something? Guess which is which: &

what exhuast gives the most gain in horsepower? im probably gonna turbo the ka24de and the car is for drifting....

i live in indiana where there is no smog or any limitation on loudness(from what i understand in the last 2 years i been here) so anything goes...

i dont mean to threadjack, sorry...
