I'm looking to buy an exhaust for my 2012 2.5 Altima Coupe. I'm not trying to spend an arm and a leg but I want something that sounds decent but I don't want it to me extremely loud. I want something with a little rumble. Any suggestions!?! :) :)

I'm guessing Stillen catback would be best. I think it's one of the quietest aftermarket exhausts. Prolly what I'll end up getting if I can accept the looks of it. Not that it looks bad, I just really can't dig the looks of any of the aftermarket exhausts for our car lol

for the 2.5 the topspeed pro 1 catback (350$ ish) is the best bang for your buck. Are you looking for noise or HP gains ?

Stillen all the way, its aggressive but not too obnoxiously loud and its not too expensive.

That Stillen is good, or the "Top Speed" or whatever Ebay model with a single muffler/dual outlets (like our factory setup) will be great.

If you don't want to get dirty looks or sound like a Honda ricer, an obnoxiously loud flatulation machine, stay away from the dual fart cannon setup, also on ebay.

I'm not looking for loudness and definitely don't want the stupid typical Honda civic sound, I hate those cars! How much are you selling your stillen for tooezy?

Keep the OEM axleback and straight pipe the rest of the catback. I've always wondered how that would sound...

I would assume going to an exhaust shop and getting a custom exhaust would be best for those who are just looking for a little more sound at a small price.

Nismo all the way. After all, its a nissan. Its not too loud, not too quiet. No highway drone, unless you're driving uphill then there will be a bit of a drone. I bought it for 600 online when there was a sale and do not regret it. Best bang for your buck and best sound in my opinion. I think I bought it from this site, but I got it like 3 years ago tho.

Tanabe or Borla are others to consider. I might actually go with the Tanabe, but I haven't really heard much about it.

That doesn't make sense. "Straight pipe" is when you don't have a muffler or resonator or any of that stuff. At least that's my understanding. I believe the 2.5 has a resonator in the exhaust system. If you get rid of that and just keep the muffler, you'd get disgusting rasp and that would sound extremely ricey, to say the least. I know because I've dealt with 2-3 exhaust setups with and without resonators on 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. cars. That and you get much more drone inside the car with a 4 banger, and somewhat with a 6 cyl.

Bteedubs, my Borla with < 20k miles is up for sale. It was for my 3.5 but I am sure it will bolt up to a 2.5 since the routing is identical from what I understand.

It wont fit a 2.5. From other 3.5 exhausts, theres an extra piping that is used, so it wont match.

If you're talking about the Borla, I should have mentioned it's just the muffler. I know most "universal" Coupe exhausts on ebay have that extra section of pipe to fit the 3.5 (or the 2.5, which ever needs it). The Borla muffler should bolt on a 2.5, if someone can verify the axleback connections are identical on a 3.5 and 2.5.

Also does anyone have a recommendation for a shop to do the installation in southern cali?

Yeah, the axleback connection is the same for 2.5/3.5 (at least on 2008 and 2009 models). Probably the same on all model years though.

Maybe a little to late, but I got the cheap OBX exhaust off ebay about 4 months ago I think it was around 300$ but had to pay 150$ for shipping cause I live in canada... I personally really like the sound pretty deep. You cant hear it when you are just cruising at a constant speed only loud when you are stepping on it... IMO its worth the money, however it was a bit crooked after i installed it and had to get the pipes adjusted a bit.

I have stock headers going into a magnaflow catalytic converter and then straight piped with a 2 1/2 pipe back to a Y-pipe outlet

I just installed a Stillen axel back exhaust yesterday. You notice it more at idle and at acceleration but wide open it is not much louder that my stock muffler with 126000 miles on it. It does sound deeper but does not drone going down the highway. It doesn’t sound “ricey”, if it did I would have taken it off and sold it on EBay.
