Get the N1 duals they are the best powerband and sleeper exhaust. From the back they look almost like stock.

Alright nice, the N1 dual sounds real good. Performance wise which is better the Apexi or HKS?

i say just buy a muffler, and take your car to a muffler shop and have them bend one for you, thats honestly IMO the best way to get performance from an exhaust system

Ummmmm....no.

Unless it's been dyno tested, that's a sure way to potentially LOSE performance.

Check out http://www.brmusa.com - That'll give you an idea of what BRM makes (not sure if we have the S14/15 exhaust info loaded on there yet).

Call for pricing and more info...

If you get a custom setup w/ bigger piping and a decent muffler, it would be very hard for you to actually lose power...

well actually it depends, we dont even know what this person wants to do w/ his car, turbo? N/A? so cant really say anything is better than the other yet....But IMO i think a costum 3" mandrel bend single pipe will get more air flowing through my exhaust system...but then again this is not street legal either, but who really cares? Turboing your car is already not legal or is it? cause i dont think you can pass smog inspection here where i live w/ turbo. Again that's just IMO

spend half the money and just buy an apex muffler and have a muffler shop custom mandrel bend pipes back.

Another vote for custom exhaust. I know with cars like my f-body almost everyone that gets heavily into modding will turn to a custom job.

Heck my exhaust cut out I have gives just as much gains if not more than any cat back for my TA, yes I have dyno graphs... 10 rwhp when open.

What I would do, get a good muffler, research good flowing mufflers on the web, get a hi flow cat, and no bigger than 2.25" piping (from what i've read on this board) if you're staying NA. The money you save from doing up a custom kit, get a header and you'll be set.

Would an exhaust be the biggest bang for the buck, or is there something else I should do first.

no do exhaust first...unless you are bone stock, then do an engine swap first then exhaust.

Remove stock intake resonator piping and then do exhaust...

the only thing about doing exhaust first is, that its a decent amount of money (depending on what you get) and if youre going turbo, youll eventually want 3" but if you arent, then youre going to want 2.25" or 2.5". but once you make that decision you should be good to go. just try not to waste your money.

I have the hks hi-power. It sounds really nice. Its bassy tone ruffles the girlies panties. :) However, it was bigger than I thought it would be and from some angles looks enormous. But the wide mouth ones all look like that i guess.

HKS Hi-Power all the way.

Pipe size is 65 mm about 2.6" it's the biggest for NA 240sx application.

you can try to find the nismo exhaust or the kei office exhaust for the s14. They're both fairly rare but are fairly quiet, 70mm piping, and won't scrape to hell when you go into your driveway or pull out of a driveway...

What about the 5zigen exhaust... Is that any good because I was reading about it in the Import Tuner PowerPages

if you are staying NA, go smaller. If you are going turbo, go bigger. If you are going really high hp turbo, go hella big (ie trust evo / hks titanium) otherwise all exhausts = a piece of mandrel bent pipe. You are going to be paying for stuff like thermal coating, stainless steel, size of tip, etc etc. unless you go ebay special, then weld quality comes in. I say if you are on a budget and want a good exhaust then go with gpsports. i am not a fan of Apex'i, although lots of people are. i am sure the apexi n1 is good, although i dont know why noone goes with the GT. also i would highly reccomend against the Apexi N1 duals or greddy DD. reason being how many race cars do you see with dual tips, all it is is extra metal.

Once again, I say you should check out the BRM systems.

Quality FAR exceeds those of the NISMO kits, and the price is better as well.

no, actually you are right. it really wont give you that much hp. and yea imo $500 is a big waste of money if you are n/a. thats why i got a custom exhaust system and only spent $250 and its just as good as any catback.

I hate exhaust threads.

Anyways, just like anything else in this world, you pretty much can pick TWO from sound/looks, peformance, and price. The custom made exhaust setup is just as good (and can sometimes be better, although I admit it can sometimes be worse if you go to a bad place) as any aftermarket system you buy. I personaly am going to have piping custom made and then buy a nice flowing muffler. I REALLY just cant see myself paying $500 bucks for a friggin PIPE and a shined up muffler, it just doesnt make sense. Money can be much better spent elsewhere (ESPECIALLY if you're NA... jeez), so... yeah... dont waste your money needlessly.
