I did a search couldn't find what I was looking for so I will post my question here; My car is completely stock its 93' 240, I wanted to get a full cat back exhaust (http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1245/31) but plan to get SR swap by the end of this year. My question is will I have to get a new exhaust with the SR swap or will the one i'm going to buy now work and not give me problems when installing the SR20DET? Thank you in advance.

The HKS Sport exhaust will bolt up fine as well any exhaust made for the S13.Exhaust's are made to fit the body style or year of the car.The piping size is made for turbo or NA.The HKS sport exhaust is not the best choice for the sr20 because its turbo,It works and sounds great on the KA,My friend has one on his car.Plus it has a chamber muffler. But with the sr20 or any turbo car you want the largest piping you can get,And a straight through muffler. If you want the most HP out of your sr,Look into getting a exhaust with a 80mm piping.

All of these are 80mm

No, the exhaust is designed for the specific chasis, not the specific engine.

either get a turbo-sized exhaust and lose a bunch of low-end due to super-sized piping or don't bother getting one until you swap in the SR. if you get an N/A-sized exhaust you'll be regretting wasting the money later.

I got a 3" catback when I first got my car in preperation for the KAT and in the time it was NA I barely noticed the difference in low end with the 3" exhaust. Just get a big exhaust now so you dont do it twice.

I say you should just wait for the sr and then get an exhaust. No point in putting it on then having to take it off again soon after.

butt dyno = falsehowever, with a 2.4L engine, 3" isn't all that bad. it's CERTAINLY better than stock by a long shot!

no. a 3" full exhaust will still be much better on the KA than stock, and don't even bother with an SR if you're not going with an aftermarket exhaust at the same time or before the swap. it would be stupid to have SR + stock exhaust. waste of $2k+. but even if you got a 2.5" system for the KA it would still be decent on the SR, just not as powerful as a 3" system.

basically, my advice is to go ahead and get the 3" exhaust now and put it on. you'll like it better than stock i'm sure, and when you go SR, you won't have to mess with that at least. just make sure you WILL go SR later. if you're not sure, don't buy it and wait until you're sure you either will or won't go with an SR swap. you wouldn't want to spend good money on a 3" exhaust only to find out later you're sticking with a KA, and then have to sell the exhaust.

BRM is a great exhaust system (that's what I got). Going 3" however on a ka24 with no turbo, will make the car feel way slower untill you reach about 4k RPM's. My car was actually faster off the line when I had stock exhaust. I am going SR though, that's why I just went 3". No need to waste the money.

Warning: 3" on a n/a KA24 is going to be super loud if it is all straight through.

hehe it's not super loud on an SR though . like they say, a turbocharger makes a GREAT muffler. it will be loud to people who make the mistake of being in the general direction of the tailpipe exit, though . but it's very liveable for the driver, even at WOT. i don't know about larger turbos and such as i've never had that pleasure, but at least stock is reasonably quiet.

Get the 3" exaust your going to need it for the swap among other things ie: fuel pump is a MUST. If your concerned bout back presure on the ka or noise most 3" exaust systems can be used with a silencer so theres no problem either way.
