Hi,

I have a 96 I30.The exhaust system, the Y-pipe and the B-pipe (not 100% sure if that the correct terminology)needs to be replaced due to rust, should i go factory or aftermarket?

Absolutely go aftermarket. That is one of the most cost effective ways to free up power with that car. Also, I'm not completely sure, but I'd be willing to bet that an aftermarket exhaust system would be cheaper than an oem replacement from the dealer.

Welcome to NICO!

The only thing I would add is that an aftermarket y-pipe will remove the precats(warm up cats) on your car. While this results in good power gains, it is also removing emissions equipment. Many people have done this and not had a problem with their emissions testing, but some have. I just want you to have all the information to make an informed decision.

MinisterofDOOM, maxhopper97 I like to thank you for your input.

I guess it's a hit or miss with the emissions test.

The information I have available is that with a proper warm-up period, the after market y-pipe will pass emission testing. I do not know this to be fact.
