I need some feedback on what exhaust to get. I would like a little hp boost, but mainly I just want a good crisp deep sound. Also any other suggestions on mods to go with a new exhaust?

I have the Stillen cat-back and I've since put on about 2K on it. At first, the sound resonated throughout the cabin but now after breaking it in, it's a nice low grumble. I also have the Injen short ram intake. When I punch it on the highway, you can tell the difference! But it all comes down to personal preference. There are a lot of videos out there on Youtube. One guy actually replaced the OEM muffler with a 350 muffler. Sounded pretty decent too. Just search around and I'm sure you'll find the right exhaust for your coupe!

Check out youtube for the different sounds. It'll give you a better idea then what anyone here can explain.

Off the top of my head I've seen the Borla, and Nismo and both sound a bit too raspy for my taste. The Stillen and Tanabe are more smooth in my opinion. Like Dangeris said, someone even did a 350Z Muffler replacement.

Personally I like the Stillen best.

I'm not really familar with the VQ35HR that the new 350Z and Infiniti uses, but I would assume that it sounds similar as far as exhaust goes, so if you really want to broaden your search you could try looking into G35 and 350Z exhausts - either custom fitted or email the company to see if they have something planned for the Coupe. Try looking up older 350Z and G35 videos for the VQ35DE which probably sounds closer to the Coupe.

You apperantly have never heard ANY of these exhuasts in person. Bolra and Nismo both have deep pure sounds. Stillen and Tanabe are both more raspy than the first 2.

Agreed....

This is why I'm shelling out the money for a Borla... Remember this guy ^^^ has also removed the resonator on his midpipe if I'm not mistaken. This will only make the sound more aggressive in everyway. You need to get to a meet or find a good dealer (nismo) to start hearing them in person.

The Borla and Nismo both have a nice deep growl, and a nice low idle rumble... at least thats what I hear on the videos. As for the Stillen its definitely one of the quieter ones, in some videos you could barely hear it. Maybe I need to hear them in person, but the Stillen didn't too good at all.

Im def not paying for a cat-back... too much $.... but what i am curious to know is the - affects i could experience from using a g35 or 350z muffler... i can get the 350z pretty easy (and prob for free)...

All I have to go with is Youtube... so yeah audio quality of the video is alot of my basis. I've heard Borla's on other cars that sounded great, but they weren't the VQ

Yea i've heard all of them in person. As far as look goes, Stillen takes the win. The daul polished aluminum muffler setup looks amazing. It is however more quiet than the rest due to the resonator. Nismo and Borla both sound incredible and deep but don't quite have aesthetics of Stillen. Tanabe is right in the middle of the sets. Doesn't quite have the throatyness of Borla or Nismo but is louder/deeper than Stillen. They all create that same amount of horsepower to my knowledge.

The whole 350Z muffler thing sounds kinda sketchy, but its pretty cheap. Even the 3.5 didn't sound too great with it, I have no clue how it would sound on the 2.5, its worth a shot though. I would love to hear the Stillen cat-back on a 3.5 W/O the resonator.

Yea new vids and pics of the Nismo after it is broken in would be great. Is it hard to take the resonator off the Stillen exhaust. It is the exhaust that I want because of the way it looks, but I need it louder.

I'm waiting for someone to throw those Topspeed N1 and Pro1 cat backs from the 350Z on a Coupe. Those sound great on the Z.

Those TopSpeeds sound awesome, but they're kinda pricey, not to mention the cost of fabrication to make it fit.

my dealer quoted me $965 but as soon as I mentioned $810 from leeparts they started begging for my sale so I imagine you could talk them down to around $800 give or take.

What I want to know is if there's a drone while cruisingaround 60-80 at 2.3 rpm with the Nismo Exahust. I thinkwith my CVT it would just become annoying if it did droneall the time.

I thought the one they were putting out was just a turbo back that will come with the turbo kit, or is it going to be a production cat back?

I went to the Baltimore car show about a month ago. The white Artisan acoupe was there and I got a chance to talk with him for a good while. The Artisan Performance exhaust that was on his car looked more than perfect. When he started the car, it was the by far the best exhaust sound that I have heard for our cars. I took plenty of pictures, and got one video. The video isnt the best quality because it was taken on a cell phone and there was a lot of people around. Ill post the pictures and videos soon.

That sounds great, did you happen to get any pricing info? Man, I hope they don't go Borla on us!

Sorry homie, I didnt get any pricing, but im sure they will not go Borla on us. From talking with the owner of the Artisan acoupe, i doubt it would be 2 high. He was a real, real cool dude, and I think he is usually on the forum, so im sure he will reply with some type of info. If your looking for a powerful sounding, but real good looking exhaust, it might be whats best for you. Ill probably get this one or the Greddy myself. Still depating on the Stillen.

Yeah, I think its best to wait till the rest come out. You don't want to regret your purchase. I can get the Nismo for $774, but I hope the Artisan is close.

Yea I definately agree with you on that. I love the way the Stillen looks, but want something with a more powerful sound. Thats why im waiting for the Greddy; I know I will like the way it looks if its like the others on the site. I definately know I will like the sound, and know Greddy puts out good power. The Nismo sound is perfect, but im not sure what type of power the Nismo will give.
