exhaust system

I am kind of new when it comes to making my car faster, so please help. I just developed a large hole in my muffler, and by the grace of God and the support of my wife, and a little extra $$ form Dad I am shopping for a new exhaust system. This includes a high flow Cat. a cat back system, and possibly a header if I can find one cheaper then 400$. I would like to keep the whole project under a grand. any suggestions on what I should do? Also when I look under my car it is my understanding that I have a pipe that runs from my stock header, to my stock cat. then a pipe with a bulge on the middle, which correct me if Im wrong is my resonator, to the first muffler and then another pipe that goes to the next muffler and out into the air. If I get a cat back system will this bypass the resonator and the first muffler completly to where it goes straight from my Cat. to the muffler into the air?

You did not say what car you will be doing this to. i assume it is a 240sx. you can get an apexi catback system for ~$450-500. The headers from either Hotshot or S&S will run about $400. if you do the work yourself, you can do it for under $1000. You can keep the original catalytic converter if it,s not plugged up or rusted through. look at these sites for more info.

Praise God, He does provide when we need him most!
