Removed my turbo manifold off my car and set aside. Got ot other engine and start removing the exhaut mani. PITA but got all the bolts to break loose and got all the way to the last one.Where it was turning with abotu maybe 6 more turns before the nut is completely offThis is by hand now.And then the stud starts to turn in my hand it comes out of the block. No damage to it. What do I need to? I know it will thread back in and then it will just tighten down.Do I need to be locktite or anything?

just put it back in...as you rebolt on the locking nut after the turbo manifold..it will automatically push in itself. i actually had one missing on my new motor ( i dont know why ) so i went to my old one and took one.

no........don't just put it back in.....

take another one of the exhasut manifold nuts and put it on top of the existing nut. Put some loctite on the end that goes into the head. Use the two nuts on top of each other to make a locknut configuration using two 14mm wrenches. Try to loosen one while tightening the other. GEt them pretty tight. then you should be able to use a 14mm socket and put that stud all the way back in. Let it sit for a lil while so the loctite hardens. then use the two 14mm wrenches to undo the locknut configuration and take the nuts off.

You could prolly use somehting else to hold the stud in as IDK how well loctite will work. But that is the method I used ot fix my exhaust maniofld stud. Next time, use some kind of penetrating lubricant to loosen them next time. Kano-kroil works the best.

Will like to add:Clean the threads on both sides using brake cleanerLoctite (blue) will NOT hold to that temps, Use Red Loctite and do NOT overtight the bolt.

hell no man!! Its all about the PB BLASTER!! haha, that stuff is the bomb!

lol, Nissanfanatic is right though, the stud should be tightened down in it's thread before you attempt to re-assemble everything.

If the bolt breaks then you gone too far. The nut isn't stuck on there.Just the stud came loose.I could spray some pb blaster on the nut and it would come off. So the question really is how to install a stud properly

^WTF..??

That definatly is not the way to look at it. Given it is a PITA to get a torque wrench in there, and it isn't completely necessary(preferred), you definately should not just hang on the wrench. Attempt to step them correctly. I did like one snug step using the proper sequence and then tightened them fairly tight on the second. One of the most important factors along with proper sequence is getting all the nuts/studs equally tight.

I already answered the stud installation question.

I forgot all about this... Ended up building my other engine so didn't use this head...I had sprayed PB Blaster on all of them.. they all came loose. Was undoing the last one by hand and then it got to some rust build-up and the whole stud started to unscrew...removed mani and then screwed it back in...
