exhaust spacing?

so i was tired of my intake being louder then my exhaust and am waiting for my friend to give me hes cat back but any ways i spaced it from the cat to the piping that goes to the muffler about a 1/4 of an inch i havent tested yet cause it was kinda of late but when i backed out if was loud as if i had no cat/muffler just down pipe which i have tried before and notice that there is no power at all so i was wondering if the same will happen with the spacing or if it will give alil back pressure to=like a 3in or something?

it will run the same as 3in its not that u dont have power u gain bettertopend and cant really feel bottom still going to be loudcuz ur opening the header up
