I recorded this today and uploaded it to youtube. Thought some of you guys might want to hear it. Excuse the sound quality; I have old equipment and during the conversion from analog to digital there was some degradation and interference I couldn't get rid of.(This is Rob's old car, so I'm not sure if he posted any clips in the past...if he did, here's another.)

The clip is not quite true to the real sound and doesn't really do the car justice. In person, the car sounds sharper and crisper (I'd say it has a hint of Ferrari in it...). If you have a subwoofer on your PC, crank it up for full effect. :D

(Obviously the text at the beginning is for my non-Q friends' benefit).

I love driving this car so much.

They're custom one-offs that the previous-previous owner had made.

Ugh, like looking at your sig everyday isn't a painful enough reminder .

Did you ever get the TCU replaced?

It sounds so much better "under load". Get some idiot friend to ride in the trunk (slightly open) and have them hold the mic out the back.

Yep, TCU is replaced, the car runs beautifully now.

The best part is, after some testing, it looks like I get the same milage (about 16-18mpg) with JWT stage II mode on as I do in OEM mode. Which is awesome, because the JWT stage II makes a huge difference, especially under 4000 rpm.

I'm planning to paint the wheels this weekend with some Graphite Duplicolor wheel paint.

did you take it off stage III?

By the way, thats NICO stage II and III, not JWT unless you are running on JWT mode (which sucks compared to NICO, and is safer)

Hmmm...the labels are hard to read without removing the ECU so I forget which is which. I'll have to pull it out and take a closer look. The one I have it on now is labelled as ignoring knock sensors and O2 sensors. I've been running that and OEM back and forth to compare fuel milage.

I seem to recall you saying that JWT mode has a stronger low end than the NICO settings. Am I wrong (or has that changed with NICO revisions)? Whatever mode I've been running, the car's anemia below 4000 rpm is gone, and nearing the rev limiter is a lot stronger (car hesitates JUST before shifts on OEM setting).

Is it on the same setting that I put it on? If so, you're golden. It may SEEM like JWT has a stronger bottom end but it doesnt, its just masked because it doesnt have the top end the NICO tunes have. Theres no such thing as JWT stage II or stage III...

If you run into pinging issues when its hot out.. Try going to NICO stage II..

Okay, so I pulled the ECU out so I could actually read it.

The setting you had it on was actually labelled a "Stage 2 no O2 no EGR no ks"That's what I've been running with the awesome bottom end and the great top end. It's the one I'll be leaving it on now that I've confirmed that fuel milage takes no hit at all compared to stock.

Looks like I don't have a NICO stage 3 setting. Just OEM, Valet, JWT, and NICO stage 2.

Can't really see much with them on the car. I could probably see more with it up on a lift but that's not going to be happening for a while I don't think.

I'll have it up on jackstands saturday while I paint the wheels, though. I'll see if I can get any decent shots from beneath the car.

In a word ...wicked. I love my Q nice and quiet but if I were going for the Chuck Norris in a tux look and sound with my Q, your car is what the poster child would sound like. Gorgeous growl.
