Hey guys what would you think is the cheapest product that will give slight hp gain but has a badass sound.

Test pipes or a used Coupe mid pipe.

I bought my test pipes used. $75 shipped with CEL fixes already attached. They had to be like 40 lbs lighter then the factory cats. Louder and more responsive. Downside is that it is illegal in some states and It stinks like a 60's muscle car.

If you plan on getting an aftermarket exhaust then the mid pipe might be a waste of money. Alot of exhaust systems replace it anyway.

An ebay one will work fine. It's only a steal pipe. If you buy it also buy CEL fixes. They will stop the Check Engine Light(CEL) from coming on. Or if you want to make CEL fixes there is a how to page.http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=158167

The most pain from changing exhaust parts is corrosion. Depending on where you live some of your bolts might look like they were submerged in salt water. A big pain. Also if you don't have a lift then invest in a strong jack, jack stands, and safety glasses. The glasses will save you from crud and rust falling into your eyes.

I think the midpipe and the HKS rear section is not a bad idea as well.

The legal option would be High Flow Cats(HFC). They will be about 3X or more expensive then test pipes. The good HFCs will only sacrifice you a few hp over test pipes.

A quick search of HFCs turned up:

Berk HFC $359http://www.rsaperformance.com/10423.html

Kinetix HFC $369http://www.importpartspro.com/kihiflsmleca.html

I hear Berk's HFC's are sweet I want some...

But in your case, I would suggest a 1st gen Stillen exhuast. you want noise? They created a Second gen because the first one was loud as

I think you'll end up in my shoes, always wishing it was louder.I have an auto, and I'd still like it a bit louder myself.

Get a full dual exhuast for true benifits. I wish I did, or hey, wanna buy an EVO 2 catback

I don't have a blox. I have a kinetix V+ plenum. Keeps the temps down and adds more volume. My car. (before the stillen wires were added)

so the kinetix plenum gives better performance gains than a blox spacer

I've heard, and don't quote me on this, the Kenetix plenum doesn't actually increase HP. I had considered buying one because they look really nice, especially with my black Fujita intake, but I opted for the 5/8 Blox because it claims 16hp. I doubt that, but it increases intake volume substantially. 5/8" x 4 ft2 = more volume = more power.

The Kenetix is proven to increase volume / heat resistance, but I'm not truly sure of the actualy gains, I read somewhere that it actually stayed the same on a dyno, but the track is where results matter.

Teflon, what is your experience with Kenetix's claims?

It definitely keeps things cooler. I can place my hand on the kinetixs plenum and it will only be warm. It is a composite material and dose not keep the heat like the stock aluminum plenum. I would not recomend to place your hand on the aluminum plenum after as spirited drive.

Most claims about the kinetix plenum are about the kinetix SSV not the V+. Ive heard from several places that the SSV is all Show and no go. Shops around here have dynoed it and said it give no gains over the stock plenum.

The SSVhttp://www.kinetixracing.com/n....aspx

If anything I type doesn't make sense it is because I am on the phone arguing with a girl while trying to type. I haven't even started drinking yet.
