exhaust smoke

i need help theres black smoke coming from my exhaust and its making my bumber black i know thats extra fuel being burned and its just killing my gas mileage and making my car idleling really low. what can i do to fix this?

i used injector cleaner about a week ago and i havent really noticed any difference

did it start happening before or after you put in the cleaner? the cleaner might have free'd up the deposits and sent them right into your fuel filter. Is your car choking at high RPM's? Could also be that you're burning oil. Check fuel filter, and do a compression test. Buy some beer while you're at it.

no its been hapening before. but my oil does seem to be going down pretty quick. i'll check fuel filter, and post in the morning

i must be burning both but what would the causes be that i should check first i have noticed the white smoke a little bit but i know im burning more fuel because my bumber is always getting black from my exhaust

do a compression test..your rings might be gone..if thats it..its time for a rebuild...if the test comes back in norms..then look at your air filter...clogged air filters will make ya run rich too and plays havok on your maf..anyways..hope this gets ya going in the rite direction.

thx man. not gonna have money till the end of this week to do the compression test so im gonna check my air filter first. hopefully its something not to major. i got a sohc motor so if i do need to rebuild im thinking of just going dohc, but hopefully the motor isnt the problem
