Well i have this really bad exhaust smell inside my cab, but you can only smell it with the windows down. So i figured i had some sort of exhaust leak, so i look everywhere and cant find nothing, not under the hood, not under the car, so im just wondering if maybe the turbo could be somehow leaking under boost because the smell seems to get alot worse when im on the throttle pretty hard. Any ideas?

ok, i did some searching, again, and i am not sure if this could cause anything, but when i take my oil cap off when the motor is running alot of air comes out, more that there should be, im pretty sure this is caused by me not having a line running from the valve cover to the intake, correct? also if i block my exhaust off at the rear my motor still runs fine, man i cant figure this out.

A. you shouldnt have your oil cap off while the car is running not the safest idea for the engine internals if something was to fall in.B. You need to mke sure your crank case and valve cover are vented and not plugged off. They dont have to be run into the intake just vented.C. if your blocking you exhaust off for a long period of time and the car runs fine you have an exhuast leak.D. Dont block your exhuast lol

correct. I would check at the cat or test pipe. also if you take a long metal pipe and put on the exhaust near the turbo, and then near your welds on your exhaust youll be able to find a leak really quick....

and dont block your exhaust, back flow aint good for your turbo.

cool thanks for the help, i guess i'll just have to take the manifold and turbo off, again, and make sure everything is ok because i know there is no leaks under the car, around the cat or anything. but what would be the easiest way to find an exhaust leak like that, i mean i have fixed plenty of exhaust leaks before but they have always been easy to find, like u think if i plug the muffler and it still runs then it would be easy to find but trust me, its not. i read somewhere about seafoam in the brake booster, and follow the white smoke, any other ideas?

yeah, dont plug your exhaust anymore.

are you checking your gaskets to see how they are sealing. For example you exhaust mani gasket, if you change in and dont clean the surfaces you can get an improper seal i.e. a leak.

dont forget to check the exhaust side of your turbo housing. though, highly unlikely, you can get cracks near your flange and on the housing.

if you get too confused take the car to a muffler shop... they will find it quick.
