Exhaust smell causing headaches

I just recently bought a 93 240sx se with an hks catback 3 inch exhaust and I have been smelling exhaust in the cab of the car with windows rolled up and down it doesnt make a difference... its been causing slight headaches

what can be done to fix this problem? any specific areas or methods to check what is causing this?

Have you checked the exhaust for leaks? Check for rust, missing bolts, bad gaskets, etc. You still shouldn't be getting it in the cab though. Check your exhaust manifold for leaks (gaskets) as well.

My old 240Z use to do this, the weather stripping around the hatch was shot and fumes were coming in. If you have a coupe, I dunno.

How do I go out checking the exhaust for leaks? would I have to take it to a mechanic for him to run it through a diagnostics?

once I get this problem out of my way, I still have to remove the iacv for cleaning because of idle and stalling issues....

Make sure sure you don't have any holes near or around wehere your front seats mount to the floor. These cars rust easily it seems and this is one spot where I found a HUGE hole.... front passenger seat, right rear mounting bolt. I currently have also an exhaust leak and I get headaches too.....not sure from the loudness or the exhaust fumes or both.
