Going right along with the question about what turbos ppl are running. I was wondering what size piping ppl are using? Dump, Down, and exhaust???

I wanted to know if 3" would be too big for the stock t25? I want to use it for drifting so i would like to have a good amount of mid range along with the top end power.

I have a 3" Greddy style O2 pipe (Megan Racing or something), 3" Downpipe, 3" resonated test pipe, 3" BRM Exhaust with a 22" resonator and dual tip. Turbo is a GTiR t28. You could probably use a 2.5 inch if you weren't going to upgrade the turbo ever, with modest gains going from that to a 3", and maybe more noise. You'll have plenty of midrange with either. The small turbo creates lots of backpressure.

I have SR T25G, ProjectSilvia 3" O2 housing, 3" downpipe, and 3" test pipe followed by a 3.4" HKS Hi Power cat back (120mm tip) for me. There is still more backpressure than the open downpipe I ran for a while had. Midrange is way better now, so really, any exhaust is still good. Turbos are all about compromise. You need the back pressure for off boost (8.5:1 compression 1.8l so we need some pressure!) but for once the turbo is on song, you need as little as possible. I like my setup on my street car

Mine's 3" from the turbo back, but I don't know how it runs yet. I'll finish that motor one of these days...

well i don't know much about exhausts as far as turbo cars are concerned by i thought that i N/A cars a too large of an exhaust can cause more backpressure and a negative scavenging effect at lower rpms because there isn't enough exhaust to fill the pipe and creates a vaccum of some sort. its just what i heard though. i dunno crap 'bout exhausts.

It does to an extent. I could go through and explain it all, but it's somewhat complicated. If you want it explained, I can do so though. But in answer, those rules "pretty much" don't apply to a turbochared engine. They still do to some extent, but not nearly as much and the importance is much less.

nah i wouldn't get into the whole exhaust explaination. Seen it done too many times and it ends up being really long.

So now with my 2 3/4" o2 housing, i got a 3" down pipe, and a 3" catback(Bee R) exhaust. all i need is the muffler shop to make a test pipe, and im good to go in that department.BTW anyone heard of that exhuast, Got it off of ebay(used)???
