I don't know too much about the exhaust systems so my terminology might be off.

What is the stock size of the "down pipe" on KA24E and is it the same as KA24DE. By down pipe I mean the piece between the manifold and cat, and what about the cat itself.

Because I want to by this "elbow" for T28 turbo, and the seller is saying it will fit on to the stock down pipe and it's 2.5"

maybe im just not understanding you, be more specific...but from what im getting, yoru trying to use your old ka exhaust on a turbo set-up? do you still run the ka with boost or sr or are you just trying to use the elbow on your stock exhaust?either way, with whatever your running, i highly doubt somthing from a ka-E will bolt up to anything having to do with that turbo setup. dunno why youd want it anyway.

I was planing on replacing just the cat-back. Because that what I see a lot of people are doing, a lot of people would keep the stock manifold and cat but bigger cat-back. So it doesn't make much sense, unless the stock piping before cat bigger then stock cat-back. And I need a pretty good Cat to pass emission test, I don't think hi-flow is going to cut it.

OK - Unless you're turbocharging your KA, you don't need to buy any "elbow" or downpipe. That's not even a part for a KA car. Leave it alone.

If your car has a complete exhaust system, but you just want to replace the catback, that's fine. A 2.5" system will bolt up.

And your reasoning on the catalytic converter is off... A new converter will do better than an old clogged one, and a high-flow cat won't perform any differently (as far as emissions) than a normal one.

HOWEVER: If your car won't pass emissions with the current setup, changing the cat is unlikely to help. Fix whatever is making it run incorrectly FIRST.

Hope I understood you correctly.

Ok looks like I have to post the whole story. Be before I do, my MAIN question still remains"what is the size of the pipe between the manifold and cat?"I am not asking how to turbo my KA.

I have 1990 240sx, Swaping the engine in August for KA24DE, then I am planing on putting a T28 turbo (low boost). I am also going to replace the Cat-back, planing on 2.5" and I would also like 2.5" downpipe from the turbo, but can't seem to find one. The closest thing I found was an elbow that "would fit onto T28 turbo and stock downpipe" and it doesn't sound possible to me because the elbow is 2.5". Ive been looking around trying to find out what is the size if the pipe between mani and cat. Also I got the car with a new stock cat+cat-back installed 2 months ago. So the cat is in a good condition.
