3" is fine. I doubt you'd see any power gain with a 4".

Most of the Japanese exhausts will perform similarly. I'd try to find some locals that have a few of these exhausts installed so you can hear and see them to make a better decision. Personally, i like the sound of the RSR GTII the best (and the design of the exhaust is pretty sweet...slip fit) and the Apexi N1 would be in second place (which is also a cool design being only 1 piece but makes for some very expensive shipping). The invidia exhausts sound pretty cool too.

maybe things like mounting alignments, flange alignments, metal material, metal thickness, resonator and muffler sound tuning, weld quality. cant think of anymore.

I"ve got an HKS hi-power(the 85mm) and I couldn't be happier. The quality and build is top notch, the fit was great, and I love how quiet it is until you get to wot.

I used to have an Invidia on my old civic as well. That was a real nice exhaust.

Ive got a pretty stock S13SR and my 2.5" exhaust is plenty fine as far as I can tell. I dont think 2.5 is a bottleneck until near 300hp...

and its nice and quiet definitely sporty sounding. not so "hollow" sounding as ive heard some 3"ers can be

i too have an HKS Carbon-Ti muffler with custom 3" from the turbo all the way back (no cat). despite the system, the muffler is remarkably quiet. excellent spool up time too!

On even SR20DE's the 3" exhaust can net you a gain over a 2.5" exhaust on a bolt-ons engine with cams.

The RWD exhaust is alot straighter mind you, but I wouldn't go with anything but a 3" exhaust on an SR20DET.

Yea, no doubt id notice a slight difference with a 3"... im just saying with my essentially 'stock' sr swap it feels plenty happy to me I guess the whole low end torque argument isnt really applicable here also, since there really isnt any usable power on most cars below 2500rpm, which is when the boost builds on an sr anyway.

Its not like a 2.5 hurts anything though. Wasnt the OE sr exhaust 2.25"? with a supposedly really restrictive downpipe, tho ive never seen one myself

I'm picking up an apexi gt tonight...probably install soon. I can give you a sound comparison if you still haven't purchased anything yet.
