Hello everyone, I am writing you today from Denver, Colorado, where today, two things have conspired against me. Number one is a much higher than average amount of rainfall, and number two is Denver's rather poor drainage system. The streets were basically flooded all day yesterday and today. While driving to work, I came across the most glorious puddle you can imagine. 20 feet wide. 15 feet long. 6 inches deep. Well of course I couldn't just drive by, so I slammed it at ~20mph. It was amazing. The water went about 15 feet high, covering the entire vehicle (and most of the city) with water. It was a blast, but I instantly heard that my exhaust was a little bit louder. At that point I pretty much knew I had lost some part of my exhaust system. Upon closer inspection, it seems by tail pipe and resonator have seperated from the muffler and the rest if the piping. It looks fairly rusty, so I've told myself it was bound to happen. Anyway, I'll post some pictures and if you could help me identify what I need to replace/repair, that would be much appreciated!

The bare half goes to the muffler, the half with the ellipse flange thing goes to the resonator.

The flange broke off of the muffler assembly. So if you want new parts, you need to replace the muffler - but if that is the original muffler the front of it is welded to the pipes coming from the front resonators. Makes it a little more complicated to replace.

Also, check that flange on the top - it is probably not in good shape. The top is usually more rusted than the bottom part.

It would probably work pretty well if you cut the flange off the pipe, and fit a piece of flex pipe over the two ends, and just clamp it down well with new exhaust clamps. Way cheaper than a new muffler.

Yeah mine did the same, twice. Flange on each side broke. I just went to the muffler shop and they welded a new resonator on so I didn't have to deal with it anymore.

Thanks for the suggestion! Got it back together today, and for under ten bucks. Kinda sounded cool though without the resonator. As soon as I have the money, I would like to get a new muffler, and welding the resonator to it sounds like a good idea too.

Good tip about the flex hose. Wish I had known about it when I had the same issue.

I didn't realize so many people had had a problem with this same spot. On mine, the top flange broke off. I put in a new rear muffler.

Anyway, hope it holds!
