exhaust questions

I have a straight pipe exhaust and it sounds really gay. But other than that. can that lead to my 16mpg? and plus the ground wire isnt connected to it either. its really been pissing me off.

just because your exhaust is open should not lead to a drop in fule economy. I ran a straight pipe for sever months and I still got 20 mpg. I may sound elementary but when is the last time you did a tune up? Oil Filter, Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter. and maybe a Distributor. Also what have you done to the motor? If you are boosting or run high commpression that will drop your fuel economy. Sometimes you have to sacrafice fule economy for Horse Power.

Its completly stock and i just replaced the Wires, sparks, oil and filter. But ever since i had my intake, i started losing gas, then i sold my intake and put my stock one back one and it's still bad. Im going to put my stock exhaust on and see if that fixes the problem. It may be the Fuel Filter or the Distributor. I dont know for sure. I will probably try all those this week.
