hello and welcome to nicoclub.

and to answer your question...yes you can. I rather get a catback though because they make all the bends and cuts perfect...if you just go to a muffler shop...unless they are really good and it wont be a 1 day job...is make all the bends perfect so you dont disrupt the airflow. I'm just waiting for a catback for the versa then im going to keep the stock muffler and just using the piping...sell the new catback muffler and go the the muffler shop and have them weld my QTP pipe in.

Most companies that have exhausts out for the Versa are axle-back. It's almost pointless to do a whole cat-back because the engine is so small. You will notice MAYBE 2 more HP if you find a FULL cat-back.

1) AEM has a full cat back about to come into production.

2) The point of a full cat-back is not to make big power by itself, but to create a synergistic increase in power/efficiency when combined with other mods. It does more good if it is combined with a CAI (available), headers (not available), and hi-flow cat (who knows). Even better if there are other mods such as forced induction.

Though this has been discussed several times before.

im new and all but the v doesnt have a small engine.... and if that is the case then y would anyone want to tune a b16 hach or swap it out for a b18. there small motors that have high potential, just give it time and v's will be fast as hell

Versas weigh a whole hell of a lot more than EF's, EG's, or EK's. Unless you were to gut a lot out of the Versa & put it on a diet, as much as I hate em and hate to say it still will have nothing on Civics. You would have to be strictly racing to have a chance, but that is a different story. Let's stay on topic about EXHAUSTS.

I understand the point of a full cat-back, but on a small-displacement engine, it's not good to have little-to-no back pressure. Second, it isn't good to replace the exhaust until the engine is FULLY broken in, our Senior Master Tech has an '05 SE-R Altima that he says is just broken in at 18K. He says wait until at least 10K or so.

Not questioning anyone's intelligence, just referencing what I've been taught at trade school/Nissan school/work.
