hardbody like mine and wants to get rid of the funny nissan exhaust sound. I know mine sounds like his right now stock and just has a distinct sound, a little rumble type noise. Anyone ever replaced the exhaust and made it sound more like other 4 cylinder vehicles? he wants quiet system like a basic 4 cylinder car or truck. What makes the nissan have that funny little sound under acceleration? Anyone know? Will a basic system replacement from a muffler shop do away with it or is it something about the motor?

i think the best way to get what he's looking for would be to do a custom catback with both a resonator followed by a legit muffler... i think the basic reason you get that sound from these trucks is the fact that the mufflers aren't the greatest at muffling stock... get to a muffler shop and see what they say but my best guess is resonator + muffler

Open it up a bit while you're at it and go with 2.25" pipe. Any local muffler shop should be able to bend you up a new exhaust including a larger ca and a decent muffler for $350ish.

Thanks guys, will pass it on, if it is just the muffler making it sound that way I may pop one on my truck also. I wished it sounded more generic. Maybe the muffler guys have done a few and know exactly which part gives it that Nissan sound:)

well.... to be honest i think that nissan sound is because of the fact that it is a nissan lol

think bout it... the 350z (and others using the VQ) sound nothing like typical V6's either...

i know my truck is an even different engine that what your friend has (Z24 instead of KA) and it sounds like nothing i've ever heard before with my exhaust open like it is
