Exhaust problems?

"Some Q enthusiasts claim that earlier engines were probably closer to 300 bhp but more problematic; earlier 91-93 Qs suffered from timing chain guide and exhaust problems."

The guide issue is understood, but what is the exhaust issue that the above quote refers to?

Other than heat shield rusting and rattling, never seen a Q exhaust problem most last 250,000 miles in normal climates.

The cats get a little tired at 200,000 miles but most still pass emissions without replacement [depending on local fuel].

Some people perceived exhaust vibrations but most people adjusted to the feel. I haven't seen exhaust failures either.
