after getting my head hot tanked, and getting a 3 angle valve job, my friend looked at my exhaust ports and saw this

which totally grossed him out, so now my ports look like this... notice the lack of the ledge in the bowl area around the valve guide, and where they merge there is a sharp edge instead of a blunt one(think water droplet, blunt where gas separates, sharp where it collects)

so what do you think?

Looks pretty good! When he removed the casting flash towards the back, it didn't form a crack did it? Or could he just not get it all?

no crack, and he did get back there, he was using professional porting bits, he was just pretty cautious and didn't remove a whole lot from behind the guide

I was advised against making the merging point shap on the exhaust ports because the thin metal can't dissapate the heat and it melts, its fine on the inlet side though.

I was told this by a mate who builds race engines.

if you know you the old one is, he thought they looked pretty good, and thats what he does for a living and has done for over 50 years, they don't call him the old one for nothing :P
