So ever since i installed my S14 SR, i've had exhaust pops between shifts.

On here i was told to do the following:Change spark plugs - didn't help.Set timing - didn't helpRecirculate the BOV - didn't help

So then i readjusted the throttle cable for least slack. - Cut pops by 30%Installed a 3" Catco Cat from frsport - No more pops unless i really shift like a retard.

I originally had a gutted stock cat with 3" downpipe and 2.5 exhaust.

Wrong forum, this is FWD SR.

You could be running rich, or it could just be the comparatively small catback. Get a 3in catback on there.

I've had that problem with my last SR and my current one. Mine really isn't all that loud and it doesn't bother me much.

Off topic, but from a very reputable shop around here. I was told that gutted cats and test pipes don't do much for our cars. They even had the dyno charts to prove it. It was only a 2 to 3 hp gain. I was just wondering if you noticed any difference going from a gutted cat to the Catco cat?

It was explained to me recently that the popping happens a lot on cars that run without an inline resonator or other some kind of expansion chamber.

Also, running rich will cause the issue as well.

Well i have a 2.5" BRM with 22" resonator exhaust. I freaking love this cat, i have no more exhaust smells or anything. frsport saves the day again.

How do you like the BRM? I'm getting ready t o drop my current "custom" exhaust for a BRM, but I'm undecided between the 2.5" or the 3". I currently rock a 2.5" setup

Check for boost leaks or vacuum leaks. You may have a small one giving you a small AF inbalance.

thats odd, i automatically thought it was a BOV problem seeing as between shifts your car richens up with a open bov... thats good you fixed the problem, and hijacker go with the 3'' youll love it. and if you one day decide to go with a crazy turbo set up youll already be set.

it's a well made and great sounding exhaust. only problem is that it rests on the rear sway bar. and i know i'm not the only person with that problem.
